Kevin Martin creates contact with the air, but doesn't get the call this time.

Grizzlies (1-2) @ Kings (0-3)

Starting for the Grizzlies:
Image
PG: Conley
SG: Mayo
SF: Gay
PF: Randolph
C: Gasol

Memphis will be on the second night of a back to back after losing at Denver (123-133). Iverson is expected make his season debut.

Starting for the Kings:
PG: Evans
SG: Martin
SF: Mason
PF: Thompson
C: May

Will the Kings win a game? Will Hawes play like a C? Will any defense be played? The best we can hope for is that only 2 out of these 3 questions will be answered with "no."

Hopefully Tyreke is Healthy and doesn't cause any more damage to his ankle.

read that the game is sold out. Is that partly because of Iverson? Memphis fans are pumped to see Tyreke

No, that was not the reason.

We have been campaigning for the first 2 home sellouts for over a month now. The reason why people are buying tickets is that the ticket prices are much lower this year (Last year, it was greatly disproportional from price vs on court performance) and most of our fans are excited to see the young guys from the Kings team. We been advertising them/team over the summer.

(besides I'm pretty sure Iverson is out with an injury).

START SPENCER HAWES.

Show some confidence in him. He needs it.

Hope Tyreke walks all over Mayo. Of course, I want Mayo to score as well, cause he's on my fantasy team, but. I want Tyreke to dominate and show Memphis they missed out.

Agreed. Hawes is better that May across the board numbers wise, player wise, and of course potential wise. This has been the one upsetting thing P.W. has done. Look we are 0-3 with May starting, he is not statistically anymore than a Mickie Moore, and he is not going to cut it as a 6-8 400 pound center. He is no more than a Sheldon Williams as a player and no more of a statistical player than Moore. Time to put the only real center on our roster in the game and give him a little confidence.

can anyone elaborate on what happened during the Spurs game with the team arguing. The article in the Bee said that " a defensive Evans getting calmed down by Sean May during a timeout." anything bad?

Nah, keep making him earn it. If he plays like he did against the Spurs with any kind of consistency, the coach will have no choice but to start him. That game showed me that this idea may just be working out for us.

That makes sense, but why not make May earn his? Why the special negative attention to Spencer? What has May earned? Sorry but game wise and number wise, Hawes has proven himself well beyond May. I understand P-dub trying to light a fire unde hawes for his to compete, but at the same time we are losing games and may has zero fire in his game.

Yep, Hawes second in minutes played (among bigs) at over 25 per game. so whats the problem?

but then again we Need a legit 7-footer with bulk to go up against the duncans and odens of the west, and he's the team's only legitimate 7-footer...

May isn't our likely center of the future. Helping him mature and grow as a player isn't really a top priority for us.

Also, over all, May has played better than Spencer so far. Spencer was good against the Spurs, but May was playing better in the preseason and in the first two games. The Spurs game was the first time we saw Spencer play half way decent basketball since April (since he didn't do the summer league).

To maximize his production, i think Paul westphal knows that hawes can get his points as starter or off the bench, but thats not the case with may, unlike hawes, may hasn't proven to be reliable boost off the bench.

Most coaches from the 90s era do this, scott benched Peja and pops benched manu, they usually do it to maximize the team production.
