Semi OT- Brandon Jennings MVP Candidate

Seriously though? Biggest hype ever. I didn't like the kid much because of his cocky attitude (callin rubio out) and the fact that he'll wind up like Iverson.

But, after see how hard he works it's I dislike him less. But, even a number 10 in the MVP race is a little much I think. I don't think he has the dominant nature to his game defensively. Even Earl Boykins could light someone for a lot of points.

It's been 10 games! If there is an MVP canidacy list out now that person should be fired.

Anyhow I tried to tell the board about this kid last season and I was made to believe I was an idiot for thinking he could be a quality NBA player. I'm sorry but when a coach like Scott Skiles is letting a PG play without being in his ear that is a BIG positive sign.

Agreed, I think the kid can definately win ROY, If Evans doesnt improve his jump shot this rookie race can very well be between jennings and griffin(if he comes in and plays well)..with evans being right there too of course

Yeah, there's no denying the kid can play. I really hope Evans improves his jumpshot. It would mean a lot for the ROY award and bringing some publicity to Sac.

Seriously...way too much.

If tyreke get's a triple double, you think that puts him back in the mix? Not that he's out, but BJ is gettin all the spotlight.

If Jennings gets MVP, then Evans should get DPOY. Evans is already at prime-Artest level of defense.

^ I see Evans as much more than an offensive threat though. Jennings will ALWAYS be the more entertaining player, but Reke can (and we will see it soon) change the game on the defensive end alone. Reke is so versatile that we can go a bazillion different ways during this rebuilding phase. I have no doubt his shooting stroke will improve over time.

Guys you know I'm BIG on Jennings, but for me to say I'd take Reke over Jennings (and I have been since about a month before the draft) should tell you what I think of him. Blake Griffin WILL NOT be the ROY. I think it will be between Jennings and Reke. It's almost like you will be choosing between style and substance.

Jennings is only being over hyped because of his 55 point game. Take that away, and it's much much closer in a ROY race between him and Evans.

Let's take away Jennings and Evan's best and worst games based on points

Jennings 7 games - 22.7 pts, 6.28 ast, 4.43 reb, 1.14 stl, 2.29 3pt, 4.14 TO
on 46.8% FG, 51.6% 3pt, 79.4% FT
5-3 Record

Evans 8 games - 17 pts, 4 ast, 4.75 reb, 1.75 stl, .5 3pt, 2.75 TO
on 41.6% FG, 20% 3pt, 75.7% FT
3-5 Record

Even with out their outliers, it still isn't that close

Forgive me, a Jennings fan and Bucks fan. I'm a little surprised at MVP and don't think he has a chance with Kobe, Lebron and Melo amongst others. However, take him away from the Bucks and we're done! Take Redd away and we are winning. Take Bogut away and we won tonight. And I don't care who we played. That he scored 55 points in three quarters is an accomplishment that shouldn't be taken away from him. Hype? Lebron was and still is hype. Lebron lives up to his. Jennings will to. And you have to excuse us Bucks fans. He has provided an interest, spark to our franchise that we soo desperately needed. He may not be league MVP, but he certainly is MVP of the Bucks, and the city of Milwaukee for that matter. When was the last time something good was heard coming from Milwaukee?

(I apologize if this post came across as anything but respectful to anyone)

^ CC Sabathia was there for like six months, no? :)

People will forever hate on Jennings because he didn't go through the NCAA, but that is why I respect him so much. I won't consider either player a failure if they win 2nd in the ROY voting.

BTW I haven't owned a basketball jersey since Larry Johnson was Grandmama! I'm going to pick up a Reke Jersey.

Fact. Scoring grants you INSTANT attention (see Kobe's 81 point game). Like it or not, that 55 point game puts Jennings as the front-runner for ROY. All he really has to do is get them to the playoffs and it's his. (nevermind that he's playing in the east)
In order for Evans to have a shot, the Kings need to at least finish with a better record than Milwaukee. But like I said, if they make the playoffs, then even that may be irrelevant.
MVP however? Um... slow your roll...

I don't like his cocky attitude, but at the same time I don't want to judge the guy, and you have to respect what he's done to start the season. And he is not just scoring, he's also been getting alot of assists.

But regardless, I don't think it matters who wins ROTY or not. Evans, Jennings & Griffin are the only legit contenders right now. All are going to be good pro's, some great, so it doesn't matter who wins it. With Evans, we see how good he can become on a nightly basis, so I'm not sweating if he wins ROTY

As for his cocky attitude, good for him. Sometimes players need that. And i could list easily 10 players in the NBA who have cocky attitudes, all of which are stars. Since coming to Milwaukee, in every interview he's given he has been nothing less than a gentleman and the cocky attitude hasn't shown up but for the court where it should be. It's called confidence. And everyone can have their moments where they come off cocky and shouldn't. He had his. Putting failures on him or wishing it won't make it happen.

In addition to that- personality isnt one of the criteria by which they pick the MVP :P

i'm watching the boxscore of the MIL v. NOH game, and Jennings only has 6 points so far. I figured with teh return of Redd his production would slow down.

The same things might happen with Evans when Martin comes back. I think that's what most people overlook when they look at them. At least we know both players can produce if given the chance.

and as far as the cocky thing, doesn't it go beyond that. Wasn't he infamous for that youtube video with joe buddens?

Crap...erased my post from December 1 by accident. I predicted then Tyreke was on his way up and would be passing Jennings shortly. Didn't think it would happen that quickly... .

Bumping this...sadly, the collapse of Jennings is nearly complete and Tyreke is not only establishing himself as the odds on ROY winner, but he may just sneak into the allstar game. That would seriously bum me out as it would be at the expense of Ellis, of my GSW, but man is Tyreke looking good. I went to the GSW - Sac game the other night and Tyreke was clearly the second best player on the court and it was a close second. He's so smooth and confident its scary. What is he 20? He's too good at this age. Has anyone outside of Lebron been this good at this age?
