Update on Martin/Garcia (Vid)

I'll shed some more light on Martin's situation in Sunday's paper, but enjoy these clips of him getting shots up before the game at Minnesota while still wearing a brace. It was the first time Martin had shot before a game, although he has taken shots before a practice during the last week. Martin, of course, had a hairline fracture in his left wrist in early November that required surgery and was expected to keep him out at least eight weeks.

Garcia:

.....

It is very encouraging to see them getting into game speed one step at a time. God, we really need them now though.

Nocioni and Thomas have made great contributions.

Donte Greene has been up and down, Beno Udrih has been playing combo guard a lot. We've been playing JT at C some as well, too.

So...

Kevin will basically take minutes away from Beno and Donte/Casspi/Nocioni assuming Jason Thompson isn't playing much C. Francisco has to prove he can earn his minutes as far as I'm concerned. Greene has more potential than Cisco and Casspi's starting to come into his own.

How so? For every game where Noc has been a big contributor, there's been at least a couple of games where he has been a flat out detriment to the team. Right now, he and Donte are playing with Kevin's minutes and role--they're simply just not doing a very good job of it. Kevin, for his faults, is relatively consistent since he always gets to the line, and so he usually has a good scoring game. Noc's and Donte's game logs look like a Richter scale.

This is how I see it. Kev will eventually start in place of Greene. Beno will come in and can play the 1 or 2 as he does now. Depending on the matchups I can see westpaul playing Beno/Evans/Martin at the same time. Don't see why that wouldn't work. You could even go smaller and throw Casspi at the 4 and JT at 5.

Francisco I see taking minutes from Udoka. Cisco has always been a pretty good defender so I can see coach throwin him on someone who is on fire. Plus, he is a great energy guy. Bring Beno, Cisco, Nocioni and Greene you have a pretty good bench.

I see Noc being completely expendable when Martin returns, and non-existent when Garcia returns. It's best to start looking for Noc suitors pronto.

I see Cisco having to earn his PT! I can see a lineup with Martin, Casspi, and Greene at times as well with Greene being the 4. NO I don't think Greene is a 4 but in certain situations I think it could work.

I really can't wait till Martin comes back, so we can finally see weither Martin is this "chucker" some think he is, or if he'll fit smoothly into Tyreke's offense.

I like Nocioni but I want him gone just so I don't have to see him play PF any more!

I'd much rather see Donte play PF, his improved ball handling makes him a matchup nightmare there.

I don't think Cisco's going to be fully healed until next season.

Why so eager to call out Wolfay?

Above all else, I just want to see the Kings win. If Martin can be a part of that and not destroy the team's mojo, I'd be just as happy as anybody else. I can care less about some stupid argument on a message board (and besides, I've been right plenty of times before with Peja, K9 and Douby :) ) Martin will have to step up however and adjust to Tyreke, because it's TYREKE'S team now, not Martin's.

Okay for the record, I just want you to spell out and define how you'll be right or wrong concerning K-Mart.

I don't want Martin to be the blackhole and defensive liability that he irrefutably was (in my eyes) the first five games of the season and arguably the past two seasons. If that continues, then I'm right. If Martin can come in and be that solid #2 option everybody says that he is and is willing to do, and the Kings are clearly better WITH Martin, then I'm wrong. Simple as that. Martin can't get injured again either, as that would be freakin' ridiculous.

Is that clear enough?
