Beno for Expirings

Post#1 » by SkyHook » Mon Dec 28, 2009 10:25 pm

Simple question: Would you trade Udrih for minimal to non-producing expirings? It seems like I've seen posts here wanting to dump him before, but he's having a pretty good year. I didn't know if the general consensus had changed.

I guess it is possible, but it would have to be a contender who needs point guard help.

Lakers come to mind because Beeno would be a huge upgrade from Jordan Farmar. The Lakers have the revenue to take on the extra money of Benos contract without a problem.

Beno

for

Farmar (ec)
Morrison (ec)

Lakers do that IMO

Fisher/Beno
Kobe/Brown

Pretty good guard rotation

honestly right now, I'm not sure I would. Beno has been very valuable to us this year, and is nice compliment to Evans coming off the bench.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.

No. He plays good D, scores with a high % and can handle the ball.

Thanks for the responses...although I'm still confused. 1 Yes, 1 No & 1 Maybe. Anyone else?

I was hoping for a response from Smills, but I see that he's suspended. Anyone know what happened there?

Heck no! Beno has finally found consistency! He's playing some GREAT ball right now, and I think for what he's being paid he's a good contract. He's in a perfect role for his style of play as well so why move him for nothing?

I'd consider it purely based on a sell-high scenario. Beno's a good player but the key here is that he's a good player RIGHT NOW. I mean, think about what you were thinking just 6 months ago: "wow, I hope Beno plays decent to start out the season, then maybe we can find a team dumb enough to trade expiring contracts for him". Well, that scenario has come to pass and we have to at least CONSIDER doing it.

Beno is going nowhere, he is earning every penny of that contract. He's been the most consistent player on the team and has been impressively efficient from the field. Why move him? If any one should be move it should be Nocioni.

If the offer was really on the table for expirings - it would be a tough one to pass...

That being said, Beno is playing great again this year the system and coming off the bench fits him best.

With the way he has been playing this year, I'd say it'd be better that they stay with him for now instead of trading him for expirings. Him coming off the bench has really worked well, so just hold onto him for now. Towards the deadline things could change though.

Sorry, I think I misunderstood your post. I do NOT want to trade Beno, I think he is doing an amazing job for us right now.

I just thought you wanted trades that Beno COULD fetch for expirings.

OK, thanks. I had assumed that perceptions had changed re: Beno. There's some interest in moving Nocioni for expirings, though?

Nothing on Smills?

If we could move Nocioni for expirings I would dance in the street, he just needs to go, for everybodies sake. Most importently because we have some good upcoming SF's who need the time and nocioni should get a chance somewhere else on an established team.

Smills probably got suspended for, well, being smills.

OK off topic... BUT, IMAGINE the Lakers offered SHANNON BROWN for one of our PG's... who would you give up for him? WOULD you give either one for him? (Rodriguez and Udrih)

again... IMAGINE

I wouldn't be interested in EITHER Laker trade.

C'mon, does anybody here REALLY understand basketball?

Phil Jackson teams are ALWAYS structured around A mega-star, a second All-NBA star talent and LOTS AND LOTS of long, athletic guys. None of these guys ever look nearly as good when they go other places because they are just ROLE PLAYERS.

I wouldn't move either right now until we have a better handle on a solid rotation.

Beno for expirings is something that should be strongly considered, but I would say that not just any expirings would do.

Just by the idea that other teams are now volunteering the idea that trading for him is something they'd consider is evidence enough of how much his stock is up.

If he could be traded for an expiring backup post player that has at least some on court value, I think that would be ideal.

But for the likes of a player with virtually no on-court value, I don't know that he necessarily gets moved for that right now.
Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well-warmed, and well-fed.

I'd keep beno. His value to this team is high, when evans is going thru his rookie struggles as a distributor we can slide evans to sg and have beno run a few sets. its basically on the court pg training for evans as we utilize evans skills at sg. He is also shooting lights out and has been clutch for us when the offense has been in slumps. Subtract beno from this team and i take away 2-3 wins at the very least. IMO beno's earned his contract and roster spot.

I think Beno is playing WAY too well right now to simply unload him for expiring contracts. I think at this point you only trade him if it's for a difference-maker.
