If Martin were to be traded would Mehmet Okur be a good fit for you guys? When not playing alongside Boozer he goes for 17/8, and would probably go for 19/10 with your team because D. Will would not be there. He is a good compliment to your up an coming power forward and he gives you some much needed outside shooting with the departure of Martin. Plus he is a clutch shooter.

What profound insight! I'm shaking beneath the sheer brilliance of it all!
Anyway I'm not sure about this trade. I do like his outside shooting, but how is Okur's interior defense? I admit I don't watch much of the Jazz.

Re: Okur for Martin
Okur himself is a decent defender, its when you pair a decent defender with the like of Carlos (Cement Shoe) Boozer that things get dicey. Okur usually goes for between 17-18ppg and 8-9 boards without Boozer in. I think he would go for more than that because your PF doesn't get as many touches as Milsap even. He is just a much better player when he isn't playing with a ball hog. Plus Utah runs their entire offense through Boozer when he is in, and when he is not Okur just gets more touches. He is also on a very reasonable contract for his production. I also like the fact that he can play PF when Hawes is in, or Center when Thompson is in. Okur has an inside game that will surprise you, but generally he would allow Thompson to continue to develop his inside game. The two would be a great pair as Memo would spread the floor with his 3 point shooting for your team.

Okur would be a terrible example for Hawes.

Trade 26 year old Martin for 30 year old Okur? Uhm, how about no. Any Martin to Utah trade starts and ends with the Knicks pick (though, IMO, that pick is way to unstable at this point).

Re: Okur for Martin
I understand why you would want to keep him. I also think he is the better player. But Memo and he are about the same for their positions in the league.
C- not in any order
Top Tier
Gasol- SuperStar
Bynum- Future Allstar
Ming- Allstar
Howard- Super Star
Lopez- Future Allstar
2nd Tier
Okur- Allstar once- good contract
Okafor- Solid- little overpaid
Chandler- Solid- little overpaid
Bogut- Solid little overpaid
Kaman- injury prone
Nene- possible future allstar
SG- 1st Tier
Kobe
Dwayne
Roy
JJohnson
V.Carter
2nd Tier
Ben Gordon
K Martin
OJ Mayo
Iggy
Gay
JR Smith
M Redd
Rip Hamilton
And this list does'nt include all the guys who switch between SG/SF.
With K Martin's health issues, which is a big factor this trade is reasonable and fair. But when you are in love, you are in love. We at Utah loved Boozer when he was healthy, but wanted him out of town when he was not. Memo has been steady and good. He is a definate 2nd Tier center, but there are only about 10 legit Centers in the game and unfortunately for both of us, LA has two top tier guys.
K. Martin is a 2nd tier guy. He may put up numbers at times like a 1st tier guy, but when you consider his defensive weakness, his injury issues, and the fact that he was the only scorer on a bad team the last two years... He is a solid 2nd tier SG. Whether you love him or not. Be honest. Just like Memo wasn't really an AllStar caliber center it just worked out that way, that one year.
When you are trying in this league to get one stud wing, and one stud front court player to compete this is a good deal for both teams, but hey when you are in love, you are in love. And love runs deap for a player who has overperformed his draft position. Trust me, we love Paul Milsap in Utah, not because he is a mediocre PF, but because he is a beast for the 47th pick. We will like him a lot less next year without Boozer.
We always love the players more who overperform their draft position.
Regardless of what we all think, this may not even be something the Jazz would consider seeing how low post help is harder to get in this league than wing. Petrie may or may not consider this deal but he is one of the best in the business so if it were to go down I would trust his assessment.

When you factor in age, contract, & fit it isn't even remotely fair.
Further, using giant tiers to conclude Okur and Martin have similar value is flat out wrong. Flat out, how many SGs, right now, are better than Martin? Not SFs, just SGs. Kobe, Wade, Johnson, & Roy are all hands down better. The next 3 guys will be Martin, VC, & Ellis (not necessarily in that order). That puts Martin around top 7 in the league as far as SGs go.
What about Okur? Bynum, Yao, Lopez, & Howard are definitely better--so are Pau & Duncan if you count them as centers (both currently playing PF most of the time). Pre-injury Oden was better, Bogut's been better, Nene & Okafor are better, Camby's better, Marc Gasol's been better. That's 10, 12 if you count Pau & Duncan, and I could probably go on at this point. Okur's a decent player but does he have the value of a guy who's easily a top 10 scorer in this league who's also FOUR years younger? Hell no.
And going back to what I said before: Okur is an absolutely atrocious fit with the Kings. He's NOT a good rebounder (6.5 a game this year, 7.7 both years prior--he's not grabbing 10 a game no matter what) and he's NOT a good defender--why do you think Jazz fans are always talking about their need for interior defense?
