Shavlik Randolph

Post#1 » by cdt3 » Thu Jan 7, 2010 6:34 pm

No sooner did I write on an trade where someone wanted to trade for a big guy that we should look for a cheap big guy. Shavlik Randolph was realeased by the Blazers. He is 6-10/240 been in the NBA 4 years and has a role playing big guy 10/10/2block ceiling this team is looking. He was a 10/10/1.5 in 20 min a game in college at Duke. He played when Shelden was at Duke so never got big minutes.

Exactly the kind of guy the Kings need to swoop on. He could grow together with this young core and be a solid role player rebounding/shotblocking big guy. He would not start over Hawes or JT just help off the bench. And CHEAPLY.

The Blazers releasing Randolph means they are trading for another big man with Pryz and Oden injured. I think they would have kept a young guy like him had they not gotten injured.

If he can be gotten cheap, it's probably worth a flyer.

We could cut May. Most likely would be better to package his expiring in any trade. I wouldn't want to bring in too much salary or touches needed since JT/Hawes/Donte/Brockman can all get minutes at the 4/5. But I think Randolph could bring something we could use in a guy the same size as Donte or JT.

Imagine the size of this teas team with Evans/Martin/Casspi/JT/Hawes with Donte/Randolph coming off the bench. That is a built to beat the LAKERS size.

I really wish you'd stop using college stats to directly project pro stats.

Maybe the guy's worth a flyer, but let's not go crazy. If Portland, with their massive injury concerns, didn't bother to hold onto him, that doesn't bode well.

I say we trade S.MAY & IKE + OUR 2ND ROUND PICK for J.BAYLESS
I know that the BLAZERS wanted May before the season started

That's the key point here, there is no team in the league with more need of a big man right now than Portland and they decided to drop him.

Portland waived him because they didn't want his contract to be guaranteed.

Moot point...Blazers have re-signed him to a 10-day.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.
