With the trade deadline fastly approaching do you guys think the kings will make a trade and if so what are some trades you think the kings might look at making to surround tyreke with some real talent seeing as how almost no one will come to sacramento as a free agent we would have to improve via draft or trade

Troy Murphy seems like he fits in with Petrie's previous patterns for big men, I could easily see that happening provided Indiana doesn't insist on too much for him.

He just seems like that type of player that wont contribute though, and i dont want to stunt the growth of the other bigs by giving them less minutes expecially since hawes has just started to get back on his game you dont wanta screw things up with a big contract like his if he doesnt pan out (ala kenny thomas) plus seeing as how we wont be in playoff contention for atleast 2 or 3 years why not bring in tyrus thomas? he seems like he could fit in with our young exciting team and hes still young so he will be able to contribute when it matters the most. the main goal of rebuilding is excitement you want to sell the product to the fans and a bench full of energy players like garcia, casspi, possibly tyrus, etc. will bring the excitement back to arco and the chemistry will go up seeing how we have so many energy players that all get along it will be nice to up the chemistry expecially if the whole evans/martin expirement brings the chemistry down

KT for Murphy...if we add ANY incentive to that I'll be pissed.
I wanna trade Noc for expirers, or a big like Dally.
I just want Petrie to make a move to improve our team!

I'd rather get nothing than get Murphy. I doubt Petrie will do anything good to surprise us though. A big like Dalembert would be nice but I doubt it will happen.

If we could trade KT + Noci for Dalembert, I would do it.
Something like, KT to Philly, Noci to Boston, Dalembert to us...

He could certainly bring some things we need, but IIRC he's a FA this summer, which makes keeping him a question mark, and I don't think he gets us what we're truly lacking--size.

Thomas is the intriguing player because he has tons of talent and hasn't fully developed. Considering how Chicago has used him poorly, he might thrive in another environment. Its one of those things where a GM will take a risk on someone like him because he "could" become a great player. He is still pretty young too; I think he is younger than JT by a few months.
Someone posted this on STR, but it shows you why he is worth the risk for a team like us IMHO.

decaff troy murphy's contract is not big...i mean it's not long...it's only this year and then next year he's an expiring contract...you gotta look at it this way also.
troy gets an oportunity to demonstrate he still got his game on a team in the western conference, and then we can trade him during the offseason or next season when teams STILL trying to get under the cap will kill for his expiring...that way we could also net a higher profile player and we'll have a more stable view on how our team (excluding murphy and assuming we only get rid of non-factor players) has improved from this season to next.
i think if it's for KT and armstrong, or maybe we package beno's contract and we bring in a 3rd team in milwaukee (joe alexander is an expiring and has long been in the milwaukee dog house)
see if this makes a little sense
sac gives:
kenny thomas (IND)
beno udrih (IND)
hilton armstrong (MIL)
sac gets:
murphy ($11 M 2yr. contract)
mcroberts ($825.4 K 2 yr. contract)
alexander ($2.5 M expiring)
ind gives:
murphy (SAC)
mcroberts (SAC)
dunleavy (MIL)
watson (MIL)
diener (MIL)
ind gets:
kenny thomas ($8.7 M expiring)
udrih ($6 M 3 yr. contract)
warrick ($3 M expiring)
kurt thomas ($3.8 M expiring)
ridnour ($6.5 M expiring)
mil gives:
warrick (IND)
thomas (IND)
ridnour (IND)
alexander (SAC)
mil gets:
dunleavy ($9.7 M 2 yr. contract)
watson ($2.8 M expiring)
diener ($1.7 M expiring)
armstrong ($2.8 M expiring)
2010 offseason:
sac doesn't sign alexander after the season is over...nor does he play 4 the remainder of this season...we are left w/ the same team as before only w/o beno (we have sergio). NOW we can use murphy's expiring to GET BETTER for real...we have mcroberts as insurance big as well as the brockness.
indy gets a bunch of expirings none of the players i don't expect them to resign...maybe ridnour to back up tj ford if ridnour doesn't get a contract w/ starter minutes from another team (they have to sign ford as well)...even if they lose both they still have a pg in beno for 2 more years under contract, and ALOT of cap space to offer max salary to FA.
mil, like indy, gets a bunch of expirings which only 1 makes sense to try and resign for cheap, earl watson; that would cover their pg rotation w/ charlie bell playing some pg as well...and milwaukee should look to do the same as us, with murphy's contract, with dunleavy's.

i think we keep nocioni until next season...donte is still too raw and i don't think the kings are quite convinced yet that our SF rotation is as good right now as it should be in the future. i think we resign udoka to a minimum contract (or let him walk whichever he decides) and then in 2010-11 season we look to trade noci's 2 yr. contract to a contender for a big (check dalembert availability, among others) and expirings or picks, we package udoka and may (if we resign both) to sweetn a deal...
also...either cisco or kevin...depending on how chemistry goes...1 of the 2 will get traded next season...probably cisco cause his contract is longer and martin is better.
i think this is the way sacramento sf should go...this doesn't hurt our development as the deals are all business related....there are no high-profile players involved, no players will challenge for minutes for more than a year to care about the basketball sense of it. its strictly about positioning without hindering our core players (and core players of any of the other teams for that matter).
by this time next season this should be the rotation among the guys we keep (no draftees and no players from the future noci trade included)
evans (rookie contract)/sergio ($2.8 M 1 yr. renewal)
martin (3 yr. contract)/garcia (4 yr. contract; 4th yr. team option)
casspi (rookie contract)/greene (2yr. contract; 2nd yr. team option)
JT (2 yr. contract; 2nd yr. team option)/brockman (1 yr. renewal)/mcroberts (1 yr. 885.12 K)
hawes (1 yr. contract)
we should draft big this coming draft and make minor acquisitions to revamp our depth with veteran locker-room guys that won't challenge for many minutes but will contribute in practice to the development of our youth. we should renew sergio & brockman's contracts and offer extentions to greene, JT, and spencer (length of extension depending on their individual development).
http://hoopshype.com/salaries/sacramento.htmthis is alexander's contract: has no options either
murphy's contract: straight up increasing 2 yr. salary w/o team/player option
mcroberts' contract: next year is a team option

i actually really like that trade you proposed from the kings perspective and now i get this murphy thing i was just saying i dont want to have him here long term and i didnt know his contract was short i was looking at it from a oh damn this is gonna be another c-webb trade where we traded real talent for expirings and a guy thats just thrown in there to make the deal work (ala kenny thomas) we all know how annoying its been seeing him on the sidelines for the past couple years doing nothing and getting paid 9 million a year to do exactly that, nothing. i get it. i like alexander, but you think petrie would take on another wing when we have a log jam there? i dont, i like this
Sacramento
Sent out:
Kevin Martin
Francisco Garcia
Receiving:
Big z
Jj Hickson
Anthony Parker
Cleveland:
Sent out:
Big z
Jj Hickson
Anthony Parker
Receiving :
Amare Stoudamire
Suns:
Sent out: Amare Stoudamire
Receiving:
Kevin Martin
Francisco Garcia
Money matches up
We help these teams make this deal without suns getting raped during the process, the suns want a wing player, we give them two. we get big z in that same context you were talking about with murphy but with more size, i heard these teams want to get this deal done so why not jump in and help?

well alexander would finish the season in sacramento to become a FA...he's not getting any PT now....he shouldn't get PT in sac either...so its a none-factor basically we get him so that the money is right.
i like hickson but the suns REALLY want him, and cleveland REALLY want amare, and i don't think steve kerr wants to add $15.7 M over the span of 7 yrs. for just martin and garcia...both of whom the contracts are all increasing after every year...so 15.7+

KT for Dally or Murphy...
I firmly believe a starting 5 of:
Reke
Martin
Greene
JT
Dally
is very nice moving forward. Murphy is cool, but dally would fill a huge need.

The 76ers would not make this deal. Dalembert has played wonderful basketaball for the last month and a half. Nocioni is nothing like he was with the Bulls. Kevin Martin comes off his injury and all the Kings did was lose games. Martin is always injured. The Kings should look to the draft for the help they need with the eyes Petrie has for talent.

Wiz fan here, would you consider making this trade:
Wiz trade:
1) Jamison
for:
1) Nocioni
Bobcats trade:
1) Diaw
2) Graham (exp)
for:
1) Jamison
Kings trade:
1) Nocioni
for:
1) Diaw
2) Graham (expiring)
WHY FOR WIZ?
1) Deal gets them out of the luxary tax.
WHY FOR BOBCATS?
1) They want to make a push to win now. Diaw and Jamison expire at the same time. Jamison makes a tad more, but he's easily the better player.
WHY FOR KINGS?
1) Nocioni has two years left on his deal as does Diaw, but Diaw is the better player. His rebounding and passing would be an upgrade.

Yes, I liked this on the trade board as well.
The facilitation trade for Amare to Cleveland is a no go. As I said on the trade board if we can get in that for Kevin/Cisco (or better Kevin/Noc) I would trade them straight up for Amare.

kings might make a minor trade prior to the 4 days we have left, somewhat like last year with salmons/miller. will see though

If it weren't for the CP3 injury I think the Hornets and Kings would make great trade partners.
I'm curious to how you guys would feel about this but what would you think of a trade that sent out Kevin Martin but returned Darren Collison + Julian Wright + Filler (not sure if the Hornets would give up straight expirings or try to force the Kings to take Posey to even out long-term salaries)?

No. Kevin finally seems to be fitting in with the team, and Collison would be kind of a crappy fit with Tyreke.
