Happy for Martin, he gets to play for a good team alongside Yao (if he can ever be healthy) and a good coach. He'll turn things around I'm sure, probably torch us whenever we play the Rockets.

I'm feeling all kinds of emotions now. I think most people know that I'm a huge fan of Martin for years. I followed Martin when he was a pup. I watched him grow right before my eyes. So, it is tough, I'm not going to lie. But at the same time, I'm happy. I'm happy for Martin because he is not going to waste his prime here in Sacramento (knowing that it is a rebuilding phase going on) and he has a chance to be in the playoffs. A part of me wanted Martin gone a while back but I truly believed Martin could have been part of the future with our guys.

I know this was difficult for Petrie as well. Kevin Martin was essentially the best pick Petrie had ever made (with the exception of Evans) and he loved Martin too. I'm looking forward what Petrie thoughts on this.

Take care Martin. I hope everything works out fine.

I wonder if Martin asked to be traded? Because as bad as the Kings were playing recently, I was thinking that they were going to wait until the summer (when draft slots are final) to trade him (if they did). Not only that, but we traded him to a playoff team and a coach that he likes.

I'm glad he's gone, as he clearly wasn't fitting. That said, I truly hope Houston works out for Martin. I never hated Martin, I just felt he wasn't meant for this team as it is now.

My best memory of him was that game winner against the Spurs in the playoffs. That's one of my best memories EVER as a Kings fan. Thanks for that Martin, and everything else you've done for us.

We hate to see you go, but wish you well on your expanded journey, good luck in the future.

This was a very difficult decision for him to make, but also an inevitable one.

Thanks for the memories Kevin.

The Rise Guys said it best. Kevin Martin was asked to carry more than he was capable because he was the best player on a bad team.

He's clearly not the best player on the Kings now. I feel it was starting to cause a problem.

76ers fan here....Martin was a fav of mine too. He will flourish in Houston with Yao. It was time to move him, seems like injuries were becoming an issue every year and with Evans and Martin you really had 2 SG's

Landry and Dorsey will give you guys some flexibility with playing Thompson at the 4/5. Dorsey seems like a pretty rugged rebounder and Landry can score some. You'll have a nice 4 man rotation at the 4/5. Get yourself a point guard and you guys aren't too far away to be a winning team again.

Back when Draftexpress was still a fledgling draft site, they posted some videos of Martin running drills at a private workout during the pre-draft camp in Chicago, and I was instantly intrigued by him. Petrie drafted him, and we got to see him grow from being an extremely green rookie getting garbage-time minutes to a primary contributor and one of the most efficient scorers to ever put on a Kings uniform.

Best of luck in Houston Kevin, I know you are gonna love being back with Adelman and on a team surrounded by good defensive talent to help hide your weaknesses.

Thank you Kevin for everything you did for this organization. We watched you mature and develop into a heck of a scorer. Unfortunately with the arrival of Tyreke it was simply time for you to go. I respect you as an individual and as a player but I have to say I'm really glad I no longer have to watch you drive the lane throwing up pathetic attempts just to draw a foul
can we just get a new arena already...

Just watch, next year Kevin will play 82 games, average 30 pts, and be an all-star...

Because that is our luck...

Now Martin is teammates with Yao, he will surely get his all star birth next year. Having a whole country backing you up is nice lol.

LOL! That's so true! We're going to see Martin on a lot of all-star teams now, whether we like it or not. I am happy for him though, Houston will be a good opportunity for him, so he better step up.

It's funny that a quiet guy like Martin now has over a billion fans.
