Wiz fan here. He can't shoot and is a decent defender. A good 9th or 10th man to have.

What makes us need yet another small forward here ? & giving up yet another pick this sucks IMO
I would hope there is 1 more deal out there at least moving Nociani i mean 4-5 small forwards now simply not needed to do this deal !
especially if NOC is not dealt ...

I'll be shocked if he stays on the team after the end of the season.

If the main reason for our trades would have been just to save money then I am sure we could have dumped NOCIANI for expirings

We don't know if the 2nd round pick has protections. It is most likely a "phantom pick" that never ends up getting sent out. Remember the deal we made last season with the Celtics for a 2nd round pick that will never change hands? Probably the same deal. This may be a deal from Washington just to give them slightly more breathing room under the lux tax. We do it for the cash.

well we have traded at least 2 future 2st round picks this year for HILTON & now MCGUIRE and last year traded a 2nd round pick to BOSTON thats at least 3 we owe

The boston one was conditional, the condition won't be met because it was heavily protected and they'll never see the pick.

Clarification from Amick:
Clarification of earlier Dominic McGuire deal with Washington - Kings get cash and give up future second round pick. Wrote cash part wrong.
We are getting the cash. Not the other way around.

And the 2nd round pick is in 2011.

REKE :
Though we may never give up the one to BOSTON I dont like owing 2 of them without gaining a future pick somewhere along the way so far .

Wiz beat reporter Michael Lee from the Washington Post says the deal is for a 2010 2nd rounder:

I still maintain it is probably a conditional pick. Why? because as the beat writer himself says:
Dom McGuire move officially put the Wizards under the luxury tax
We are doing them a favor, like we did with the Celts. We get back cash, they get under the lux tax, no 2nd round pick probably ever changes hands.

They got under the luxury tax with the trade they made with Cleveland and the Clippers. I find it hard to believe you guys will give up an unprotected 2nd round pick for McGuire, who was the 47th pick.

I don't know if the Cleveland deal got them officially under it. I know it got them very close though, and I think them getting under the tax was contingent upon them buying out Big Z. I was reading on a Wizard blog that it is being speculated that the reason for this deal was to get them officially under the tax right now, giving Z less leverage in their negotiations to buy him out.
The pick being conditional/heavily protected would make more sense from the Kings' side. We had a ton of SFs even before McGuire, and Petrie generally doesn't like wings with absolutely no outside shot like him. A little cash is nice, but I don't know if that would be enough to give up what will likely be a high 2nd rounder. I could be wrong though, we will see.

We got him and Cash. Not a bad trade, We can keep him and use the cash to help with the other players buyouts or just buy him out. Not a huge deal. McGuire could be a solid pick up

A 2010 pick!? Eh, I don't like that very much at all if true. Dominic is a solid player, actually wanted the Kings to nab him a few years ago in the draft but this is just the Maloofs selling a HIGH 2nd rounder. Let us not be reminded the last time we gave up our 2nd round pick. If we lose out on a player like Luke Harangody for this, I'll be pissed.
So much for doing only deals that will "make the team better". Overall I'm not too pissed but I'm in wait and see mode.
