I see some players are having a problem with the way Westphal approaches substitution patterns. Hmmm....didn't expect this to come out this early, but I did expect it. 'Bout time Westphal settles on a rotation and style of play don't you think?

He must have seen this coming. Garcia needs time to get back into game shape so he shouldn't be complaining, but you can understand JT and spencer's frustration. He needs to pick a starting linup and rotation and just stick with it. I know coaches want players to "always stay ready" but it's a lot easier to be ready when you know how much time you should expect and how they should prepare for a game.

beno, garcia, spencer, maybe a little ime and brockman.

when you give minutes to dorsey and mcguire it just takes away from players who have been working hard for this team all year. It shouldn't but I expect it makes some guys upset.

There is a big difference between players being frustrated with playing time, and outright angry at a coach, or, as the title said - ready to blow up at thir coach.

I'll say it again - Westphal has actually done something with this roster, which you can't say the last three coaches did. The biggest flaw on the floor is our players inexperience, nothing more, nothing less. We're trying to make Westphal the scapegoat, like we have done so many times in the past.

100% agree, and if players are upset about paying time, PLAY BETTER and you'll see the court more often.

This is supposedly a tougher team, but all I see are a bunch of pansies.

I actually would have felt it was a lot more justified earlier on in the season when we had basically the same group of guys playing, but the rotations were nuts.

Right now, you can't really blame him. We're down to 2 PGs, which calls for an adjustment, Cisco's return is a tough thing to manage, and most of all, the big man rotation will take some time to figure out. Not to mention there's the whole question of whether you give Noc minutes to try to keep his value from completely going down the toilet.

Uh I agree. In the beginning it was fine, but damn...at this point, you need to go with a lineup and stick to it. I do blame the inconsistent rotations for inconsistent play IN PART. How could it not affect your game?

It's not that hard Westphal, the only question mark is how Garcia fits. Good to see you're trying to answer that question by giving him playing time... o wait.

I was wondering when this gonna come... I hoestly think he needs to find a line-up and stick to it..Players need a chance to gel and get familiar with their situations. I am not a fan of coaches who alter line ups to match up with their opponets. Doing that automatically gives the opponet an advantage.

the rest of this season is for figuring out what lineups work and which ones don't. I hope he tries 25 more lineups before the end of the year....giving us a firm idea of who is gonna stick around long term.

Quite honestly, the lineup would have very likely been much more set if Westphal didn't have to adapt to Martin coming back...and now traded. The team seemed to work fairly well without him, and became more discombobulated with him. I still put all of this on Martin.

So what else is new? If not for Martin, this team would be happy and joyfull and damn near in a playoff spot right now. They would have then proceded to shock the entire world and knock off the #1 seeded defending champion Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the playoffs (ala GS Vs Dallas) on their way to the long awaited first NBA Championship in Sacramento history, redeeming the franchise after the 2002 debacle. But NOOO! Martin had to come in and single-handedly blow this team to smitherines! Damn that Kevin Martin...

Why don't you try posting after you quit cuddling with your now-obsolete Martin-Kings jersey. You're obviously still way too attached and emotional about the trade to be able to engage in rational conversation.

Say one thing NOT negative about Martin, and suddenly everybody becomes ENRAGED and compelled to throw dirt on the name of the guy who disagrees with you. VERY mature. So if I mindlessly agree with every single word you and the majority of other Kings fans say JUST BECAUSE it's the popular opinion, will that render me any more "rational"? And since you want rational conversation, this team had ALREADY lost 8 out of 10 games immediately prior to Martin's return (which people conveniently turn a blind eye to). I actually find it rather interesting how the guy is finally GONE, DEPARTED, NO LONGER WITH US, and yet people are still finding things to blame him for. Ultimately, Martin only played 16 games this season. One way or the other, it's not THAT big of an impact.
We have 25 games with which to salvage our season WITHOUT Kevin Martin. You say we're a better team without him? Will now we will see once and for all. But in the event that this team finishes the season failing to meet expectations (I'd say at least 25 wins), where then, will you find your scapegoat for the failure of this season?

Wow...someone is still a bit touch about Martin being traded. It amazes me how some people can flip out so irrationally about a comment on a message board.

I agree with SacTownKids. Everyone is putting everything on Martin.

It's just, now that Martin's gone, we're looking for a new scapegoat. And that shouldn't be Westphal.

Yea, but something you Martin-lovers conveniently forget is that those 8 games were close, against contending teams, and there clearly was a no-quit attitude. When Martin came back, we started losing bad against bad teams, and the team just didn't give a s*** anymore. Martin sucked the very life out of this team and who knows when it'll come back.

Cause if you HAD read anything I just said, you would have seen that I ACKNOWLEDGED that Martin is gone, and that we will see ONCE AND FOR ALL whether or not this team really is "better without him".

However, people act as if we were a great team (not good, GREAT) before Martin came back, and that his return is the SOLE reason why our record is so poor. Meanwhile, letting all the other players who have NOT played well consistently off the hook for their own inability to produce at a level that they have SHOWN they are capable of competing at. How can you RATIONALLY justify their lack of production?
