Derrick Favors

What do you guys think? he just seems like his upside is too good to pass on and i know hes not having a great year but im sure that if we put that dominant of a player next to tyreke....damn.
we could be such a dominant team with a
reke
garcia/casspi
greene
favors/landry
thompson/hawes

the only thing is i say that if we were gonna get favors maybe we could possibly package thompson and hawes and get a lottery pick to seal the future 2 guard also. cisos great but i think hes just too good in that spark off the bench role than a starting role

what do you guys think? favors would be awesome, hes not a ball dominant player and he defends the basket, alters shots, something this team needs.

Pass. I've made my opinion known about Favors but to sum it up, I'm disappointed. And not because of his less than stellar statistical production. I was expecting a bigger stronger Josh Smith, I get an undersized power guy. He could help in some areas but my bet is that he ends up closer to Tyrus Thomas than Amare, or whatever high end potential big he can be compared too. Soon as I saw some of his high school game tape I was turned off. He was clearly dominating on size and power and for the most part playing "bully ball". I knew it wouldn't translate to the college game, and it hasn't, and it certainly won't translate to the NBA. He has promise, no question, but in some of the mocks I've checked he's dropping to where he should be, 8-12 range.

As for the other pick idea, that would be nice, but only if we can take one of the dynamite players up near the top of the draft (if there are any). I personally like Cisco in the starting lineup. Last year he showed what he's capable of and I liked it, 17 ppg, 5 rpg, 3 apg, 1 bpg, and the ability to hit clutch shots and defend multiple positions. He's not the most talented guy but I love the fire he brings night in, night out.

I don't see Favors as a top 5 pick he's all flash and little substance. I agree I think Tyrus Thomas when I see him play, now tyrus is a decent player but I wouldn't want to be the team that uses a high pick on him. If Ed davis were to come out this year I would take a look at him. They seem like similar players to me but Davis doesn't seem to lack the physical body to make the best use of his game.

Cousins, Aldridge, Monroe, Patterson, Davis in that order.

Evans/Udrih
Cisco/Udrih
Casspi/Greene
Landry/Thompson
Cousins/Thompson

with Hawes, Brockman, and Udoka playing in certain situations (foul trouble/matchups)

That still leaves us waaaay under the cap and the ability to either make a huge trade mid season or just save the money until the right deal pops up. No more crappy desperate contracts

Not sure on favors to be honest. I really haven't seen him play. At this point we will likely be picking in the top 5, you take the best player available. Its very possible we could end up with Wesley Johnson or Evan Turner IMO. If Petrie thinks they have the chance to be a star, he would pair them up with Tyreke.

Cousins seems to have the most raw ability, Aldridge strikes me as the all around solid center type, and Patterson seems to get the most out of what he has. I like the way Patterson plays actually, he plays smart and has good skills.

A big guy would have been the only idea right up to where the Maloofs ruined it with trading Martin for Landry. Landry is a David West type high points/low rebounds/ok defense big men. They already have Hawes/Greene/Casspi are the same type of player.

But Hawes/Thompson struggle sometimes because all are right handed and can't use their left yet even West. I think a guy like a Greg Monroe could be good because he is left handed and would allow to be paired with the right handed bigs. It could make it tough really tough for teams to crowd the paint.

I like Monroe a lot. Really good passer! Almost a little too unselfish. Would be a nice pair if Landry can end being a 20 point scorer every night.

i honestly think if we get another top 5 draft choice, i see petrie picking up another ROY type player, would be crazy to get two ROY players two years in a row.

Agreed, I don't see Petrie pulling a memphis.

I think we'd go Cousins before we went Favors, and by the looks of it we'll have the pick to get him.

Alot will depend on who declares, it wouldn't surprise me if Cousins waits a year.

Mine is all about need and skill, Wes Johnson or Cole Aldrich. I don't think we'll have a top 4 pick and I think the top 4 is going to be Wall, Cousins, Turner, and Favors (somebody will reach).

I like Wes Johnson alot. If he has the chance to be something special, then no doubt take him. It would be interesting in that we already have 2 young promising SF's, one already being from Syracuse. But if Johnson has the tools to be better than either, you take him.

I'm really curious to see who Petrie takes. When you look at our team, we have young promising players at every position, except the 2. We have Casspi/Green at the 3, JT/Landry at 4 & Hawes as our C.
If we drafted another big, we would have 3 very young bigs, plus a 3rd year player in Landry.

The thing is I don't think Johnson will be better than casspi at all. Something tells me he'll be like a rich mans Al thornton.

Wes Johnson disappears to much in games for me to really be sold on him in our deepest position.

I want Evan Turner. I think the dude has star written all over him. He does everything well!

The only problem I have with Turner is that he really reminds of Andre Iguodala, and I don't know how that type of player would work with Evans and Landry. I think Wes Johnson would be a better fit because although he can't produce the playmaking production of Evan Turner, he does the same little things like rebounding and blocking shots. He also has legit NBA 3 point range, something Turner doesn't have. He's also a lot longer and more athletic than Turner. I can totally see Wes Johnson turning into a Tayshaun Prince type of player down the road and that's exactly the type of player we need at the 3 spot.

Another player I would love the Kings to get their hands on is Greg Manroe. He reminds me a lot of Divac. THe guy is a great passer, rebounds pretty well, and plays in the low post well. However, the only way I think we would take him is if we are picking around 8 to 10.
