ESPN executives know more about what gets ratings than you do. They have teams that study this stuff man.

apparently they dont considering they've been hemorraging money for years.

Then Woj benefits. He’s got his own business to run. This isn’t that hard to figure out man. It’s all about the Benjamin’s.

woj only benefits and the benjamins come rolling in because there is a demand for it. iow, the consumer benefits as well.

yea, that's my entire point, there is literally 0 point to it other than a flex for Woj to tweet the pics 30 seconds before they are announced.

congrats, you finally got it.

So they are keeping him happy… Businesses make concessions for talent all the damn time. Think of all the dirt he probably has on them based on how good he is at sniffing our rumors.

one of those things that only has demand because it's there. no one before this was happening was ever saying 'jeez, I wish some dude on twitter tweeted out all the picks before they were announced!"

In an ideal world he would spoil the entire draft in one go just before it starts so i wouldn't have to waste a few hours of my life before making decisions on who won and who lost.

It’s like showing off and takes the suspense out of it.

I feel like Woj benefits at the expense if the draftees. Imagine being one of the hopefuls sitting at their table, and 30 seconds before the pick some jackass a few tables over exclaims that you got picked by this team. Now instead of the dream moment, it's been spoiled by someone who just had to get attention.

It's the same entitled arrogance that leads to people filming during concerts. They're not gonna watch the shakey garbage quality video more than once - it's just to post to something or other to say they were there while irritating others with their bright rectangles.

Annoying in the same way as people who are rewatching a movie with someone and insist on reciting every line while the movie is on.

It's so lame. SO LAME.

The ultimate uninvited guest who gatecrashes or the guest who blurts out that they're there to witness a marriage proposal.

The spotlight should rightly be on the players. They've worked for it. It's THEIR moment, onevwhich Woj and now Shams try to run into first waving their mememememememememe arms with their stupid who gets the news first shtick.

I loathe it.

Classless uncouth self-promoters.

I honestly doubt the draftees give a ****. They get the news before Woj does. They are more concerned about shaking the commishes hand than they are about who broke the news.

True, but it's still their moment and here are these self-serving jerks wesging themselves into the moment. Just so **** crass.

Don't care if he does it on Twitter but ESPN having him on the broadcast to announce that Banchero was going #1, for example, was ridiculous. 0 reason to have that on the actual program.

He had to do that. He’d been reporting Jabari was going 1 for months and he had to cover his ass.

I’d rather the NBA fix giving the guy the wrong hat because the trade “isn’t official”. At least I can not look at Woj’s tweets.

Woj's ego took a HUGE hit this passed trade deadline where he had bad intel on the Harden thing and was openly contentious towards Windy for days before finally conceding and admitting Windy out-scooped him. So I knew he was going to be extra spoilery during this draft just to prove to himself and others that he still has "it."

Especially since he was just trying to save face last minute because he was wrong all along, and still sticking to it even after everyone else had shifted.
