Comparing or context?

If I had D Wade's dunking numbers from college I would have shared them. Dwyane Wade is one of the most prolific perimeter dunkers of the 21st century. Quite literally the best slasher of the 20th century. Comparing Jaylon Tyson to him athletically is something that I would describe as lacking...

Now tell me about Tyson's finishing numbers, about his last step burst. Let's stick to substance instead of resorting to ad hominems due to lack of substantive response.

Jaylen Brown University of California 21 dunks
Jaylon Tyson University of California 24 dunks

Getting closer. Additional context:

Jaylen Brown was a 18 year old freshman that totaled 372 FGA on the season

Jaylen Tyson was a 21-year old JR that totaled 477 FGA on the season

I’m a Tyson fan and would be content if my team takes him in round 1. I just caution against outlandish claims and comparisons that are unfounded. He’s an average athlete for a wing. Great footwork and craft, though

Now you are framing dunks as a result of skill/experience and/or opportunity rather than pure athleticism. Welcome home.

What sort of silly projection is this?

I'm skeptical of any comparison of a draft prospect freshman season production to another draft prospect's junior season production--especially when comparing raw numbers without accounting for the fact that the upper classmen had over 100 more FGAs.

Jaylon had 9 dunks as a Sophomore (263 FGA).

You can stand by a silly claim that Tyson is a better athlete than Dwyane Wade and Andre Iguodala. Or you can accept additional info, ideally by acknowledging it and explaining how the info fits with your perspective rather than deflecting and distracting from the topic at every instance.

I'm skeptical of any comparison of a draft prospect after their freshman season to another draft prospect after their junior season.

I made you take my initial position without ever posting it. Dunk totals aren't a good indicator of athleticism. Yet you initially posted them as such before flipping to the correct position.

Lol no you didn't, but I guess it's fun to have your own reality to reside in.

Again ad hominem instead of actually providing substance as to how Jaylen Tyson is some sort of elite athlete among NBA wings. I'd be very interested to see it because I enjoy learning more about Tyson's game.

And yes, dunk numbers and FG% at the rim are important indicators to look to in assessing how wing prospects slashing games will translate to the NBA level. Below the rim players are often rendered ineffective when everyone gets bigger and more athletic around them.

I am getting a kick out of how you're trying to take some sort of position of superior knowledge here when your initial premise was comparing max vertical numbers of players 20+ years apart as the core indicator revealing athleticism.

Let it be remembered that this guy believes Jaylon Tyson is a superior athlete to Dwyane Wade and Andre Iguodala.

Yet you provided NBA dunk totals for D Wade while discussing a college prospect.

Because it characterizes his athleticism in an easy manner as he quite literally laps all NBA guards and nearly all wings that have played in the NBA in the 20th century in dunks. Not for an exercise in comparing NBA stats to college stats.

I know it's easier to latch onto silly semantics than to face being wrong, but it's healthier to face it and learn from it. But, again you're just distracting and deflecting.

You erroneously used that word, much like when you compared D Wade's NBA dunk totals to those of a college athlete.

Showing ignorance as to conceptual semantics while trying to feign superiority. Shocker. Anything but providing a substantive response for the basketball take you tried to make. This is sad.

This entire exchange is a waste of space on a thread about a worthwhile prospect. Sorry your ego getting bruised results in this thread going to trash.
