Could definitely play that kind of role. It is a bad sign that they sub him out for defensive purposes against teams like Wisconsin. He is really going to struggle guarding anyone in the nba. But I think he could be a better version of someone like frank kaminsky.

It really depends if he can get down the floor. Kaminsky is way more nimble defensively. The more time I watch him, the less I think his game is close to translatable. If you draft him, it is purely based on his mental approach to the game, assuming he will transform to fit some kind of team need and be able to get down the floor.

Going on four years in this league, I think this post describes Luka Garza perfectly.

Garza's always been a terrific offensive player. It was the defense that people wondered about. However, he's a terrific teammate and he's carving out a niche for himself. I expect him to play more this season than any other season in his career thus far. He's earned it.

Garza's biggest issue is that he has snow shoes for feet so he's very slow-footed and awkward on defense. Offensively a team could play through him to an extent like they do with Jokic and Sabonis or Love in MN. But then he becomes nearly unplayable because he just can't keep up athletically on the other end. I'm rooting for him. He's been in the league longer than his haters thought and probably will for a long time to come.
