He's also 2-12 from three in the three games.

At what point are NBA teams going to realize drafting short guys who can't shoot early in the lottery is a really bad gamble.

Fears or any other short guy who can't shoot could possibly or in theory become a great nba player (let's not pretend summer league means much of anything, especially for a guy as young as Fears), but it's so off the charts unlikely that you just can't draft those dudes top 10. the risk/reward is completely out of whack. it's hard enough overcoming just being short even if you can shoot. now you have to hope your guy goes from a bad shooter to a great shooter and is good enough to overcome the size issue as well.

Exactly. These teams will never learn. I would never draft a short PG that is a streaky shooter at best. Although his form is good and he shoots a high percentage FT rate so there is hope

Pelicans have a premier summer league roster from a talent perspective. And the worst coaching.

No system no one passes. The whole team vs the Lakers had 6 assists. The Lakers, who have far less talent, had 27 assists as a team.

Fears is trying to be a little too cool for my liking and the three doesn't look close. But he can play in a system

He isn't even supposed to be in college yet and is playing in SL vs guys in their mid 20s, I think he will be fine. The tools are all there to be great, just needs to be seasoned some.

I'm shocked how much you hated Scoot yet rush to defend Fears. Fears is similarly a bad finisher, bad shooter and turns the ball over a ton. His handle doesn't appear to be near as tight as Scoot's. Scoot also is more of a natural point guard than Fears. Like where was this level of patience with Scoot 2 y years ago? Can you explain your optimism here? Or am I misreading this?

Well for one I had Scoot ranked 5th in his draft, Fears ranked 5th in this draft class. If someone tried to tell me Fears was the best guard prospect of the last decade I would probably have pushback on him on as a prospect, but overall high on him compared to consensus.

Outside of that Fears is almost a year younger than Scoot, Fears shot 10% better at FT% and his FTr is a lot better. Overall yeah they are probably similar prospect makeups as lead guards that struggle to shoot the ball, however I think the highs with Fears were higher than the highs for Scoot as prospects. His last 8-10 games he was ascending big time at Oklahoma.

The lack of feel from Devin Carter was mind numbingly bad. Kings didn't have one player that could create his own shot at the end and that includes niq Clifford
