Cody had one of the worst jumpshot forms in the NBA and was one of the worst shooters in the NBA.

He'll probably be out of the league before he finishes rebuilding his jumpshot though.

That wouldn't surprise me.

I bet the Jazz front office wishes it had drafted someone like Buzelis instead of Williams.

I did, have him 3rd now on my mock (will update). But I am far from an expert, unless I'm right, then I am the expert  (thanks for the shout out, though). Wouldn't be surprised if I end with him 1 on my big board, but he will end top 3 most likely (2 now).

Good call on him. I didn't think he was that good at Miami but you were consistent with him.

Cody Williams was mostly invisible at Colorado at well. Don't draft someone just because their brother is good.

I got just as many very wrong, haha, but I am pleased. FWIW the test I used was ...

Are you 6-8 or taller?
Can you hit threes?
Can you dribble and pass?
Are your movements fluid rather than stiff (i.e., guard like)?

If the answer to all four of those questions are yes, I think you've identified an NBA player. Saddiq Bey was the original reason I had this thought because I thought he absolutely sucked ... but, he is 6-8, can shoot, dribble, and pass, so despite his many deficiencies he is an NBA player.

Sarr and Kyshawn have really stepped up their games so far this season. Bub not so much.

Castle looks pretty good right now too.

Cody Williams I think is the single worst player ever taken in the top 10 of a draft.

Averaging 2.5/1/0.6/0.3/0.2 on 32/12/33 splits

He showed zero reason at Colorado to be worth a draft pick that high. Every time I watched them he was completely invisible. Was basically drafted that high because of who is brother is.

On Cody Williams - yah, he sucks. The interesting secondary playmaking he showed in youth competitions doesn't actually work in a league where he has no physical advantages. He takes weird, short steps, so he can't get around anyone or turn the corner. He also has no physicality. He kind of gave a hybrid between Tony Snell and Joe Ingles (some secondary playmaking, good shooting, good defense, probably not going to have good counting stats but would still be useful) but he's just ... not an NBA player at this point. Not sure he ever will be.

listen, teams have been taking fliers on toolsy guys since forever especially when they have multiple first round picks. I still don't fault the Jazz. They're hoping to hit on a lottery ticket. Cody needed to put on 30 lbs of muscle and about 3-4 years. He does look slightly bigger and stronger. He can hold his own on defense. On offense he's essentially a useless liability. Honestly he should be playing in the G-League. The issue with that is chucking guards with delusions of grandeur dominate the ball down there and they're glorified scrimmages so not sure how much he'd benefit. There's simply too many young bodies on the Jazz. They badly need to make some trades but Ainge has to win every trade so nobody wants to deal with him and he'll never admit his mistakes. I still think years from now Cody has Warriors Wiggins upside. A solid 3 and D, #4 or #5 on a championship team. Probably closer to a Jaden McDaniels lite if you will. That's worth the gamble imho especially given who his brother is and how long it took him to develop (he was a 21 y/o rookie)

I think the gamble was reasonable. I am upset we didn't take Kyshawn George who I loved in the draft haha

Cody needs the G-League just for confidence reasons. If you can't beat out journeyman Svi, then you're not long for the NBA. He shows none of the hunger of his older brother.
