Kyle Singler

Post#1 » by UGA Hayes » Thu Feb 7, 2008 2:21 pm

Was wondering what people thought about Singler at about the midpoint of his freshman year. I thought at the beginning of the year that he was quite aways from being a pro but seems to have made a lot of progress. He seems a little tougher to me andwas doing a pretty good job getting rebounds which I didn't think he was doing earlier. He has a good feel for the game and seems to have pretty good ball handling ability though not a great first step. His shooting seems solid. Athleticism is avg.

Also how do some people see him as a prospect as compared to Budinger who seems to have a somewhat similar game and athletic profile? Budinger seems a little bit more athletic but perhaps not as good a ballhandler.

similar athletic profile ?
They are extremely different in that departement. Without even judging in terms of "better or worse", Singler is a well coordinated 6

I think Singler is going to be a great college player. But... I don't think he translates at all to the NBA. He's not an NBA 4, and he's definitely not an NBA 3.

I've seen Singler play a lot in highschool and also have seen Adam Morrison play a lot at Gonzaga, and they are pretty similar.

They've both got the awkward slumping shoulders look when they're running, but Morrison was more of a scorer, and Singler's a little stronger and more of an all-around player. Remember Morrison was really skinny coming out of HS.

Singler will need to play at least his Junior year at Duke (which I assume he will) and prove he can score inside and out, and can defend a bigger guy.
