Tobias Harris isn't a great comp. Tatum is much more skilled than Harris. I really like the Danny Granger one. That's what I really see. I think Tatum will be able to be at least a league average three point shooter. His shot isn't broken by any means. Granger seems to be the kind of player you should probably expect Tatum to be. He's not going to be a superstar, but I think he could sneak into an all-star game or two.

Boston is a good fit I'd think. I really like the idea of eventually having a Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum wing combo.

Sneak into an all-star game or two is not the upside you hope for when your GM says this is the guy they liked at #1.

Just can't get excited about this guy.

Question
What makes him better than Brandon Ingram?

He's certainly a more skilled scorer than Ingram. We'll have to see which player can develop a better three point shot.

As far as getting excited, I think getting a solid, near-level all-star at #3 is fine. That's not what you expect to get at #1, but if he has a Bradley Beal type career (that level, not that player), at #3 you can't complain. If Tatum is Boston's pick then we'll just have to see if Ainge is right and he's maybe the best player in the draft. I like Tatum, but I also don't see that. I mean, his high skill level could translate immediately and it might be true.

There's virtually no question Tatum will be a better 3pt shooter. Ingram is probably never going to be a good one.

I wanted the Celtics to pick this guy with the first overall pick. Now Ainge may be able to get him with the 3rd overall pick and maybe get someone like Bamba next year.

I don't think they're an ideal fit by any stretch, but I think it's a better fit than Isaac, who some Magic fans like.

I think they would be a really good fit together. In my humble opinion, I think Tatum is going be the best player from this draft. He is going score from day 1. He would be the Magic's number 1 option. It would take the pressure off AG to score. Ag can guard whoever Tatum can't take pressure off Tatum on the defensive end. AG to me, if he had the right people around him, reminds me of a more athletic Draymond. He can guard all 5 positions and he is a very good passer. He just needs someone like Tatum to take the scoring pressure off him.

I was really hoping the Magic could get lucky and have him drop but I think the C's are going take him. With Jackson and Fox probably gone as well I think we are staring at Issac. With Hammonds history with the bucks drafting Giannis and Thon it seems like Issac is all but in the bag for us, long dudes. Think Issac has the potential to be really good, I just don't know if he has that dog in him like Tatum.
The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...

Why would the Magic want another Tobias Harris when they gave their last Tobias Harris away for next to nothing?

Tatum seems like a slightly taller Joe Johnson to me, if I were the Celtics I would easily take Josh over him.

I could be wrong about this , but Tatum reminds me of Josh Childress or Otto Porter. Very solid player but seems to have a low ceiling

A trip down memory lane of bad and good takes.

Say welcome to the NBA's newest superstars. Tatum can be anointed after tonight.

IMO

missed with Fultz and DSJ. did well with Tatum. wanted Tatum to be a Knick so bad to replace Melo but the lottery gods had other plans.
