Where would these players get drafted in the 2021 draft?

Post#1 » by azcatz11 » Thu Jun 24, 2021 11:13 pm

Okay this is kind of random so feel free to close this thread Marcus if it's not appropriate.

Hollinger said Ja Morant would be drafted #1 (as a prospect) in this years draft.

Do you agree with this?

And also, where would Emoni & Chet be drafted in this years draft if they were eligible right now?

No Ja would go 3rd after Cade and Mobley maybe 4th after Green.
Bates might go 3rd too.
Cade is the obvious top tier prospect with Mobley 1b but there are some teams like the Pistons that could f up and take somebody else.

Ja would most likely be 4th after Cade, Mobley and Green, maybe 5th after Suggs

Chet would probably go #1 tbh

Emoni, I dunno, I think he's kinda been overrated, still a great prospect but not the generational guy everyone's been talking about...not sure where he'd go tbh, probably same range as Ja most likely

Ja would go 1st. When people do these comparisons they tend to evaluate the prospects based on their best case scenarios rather than their average likely outcomes. Morant is a perennial All Star at arguably the most important position in basketball who just averaged 30/8/5 in his first ever playoff series. We’re not talking about an Anthony Davis or Zion-level prospect in this draft. Mobley, Cade, Suggs, and Green all have question marks.

Chet may be tall as hell but he does not have anywhere near an NBA body so it’s too difficult to say right now. His bones look like toothpicks, and so if his frame doesn’t develop he’ll get broken in two in the league. His skills for his height are impressive but I have doubts right now and I’m curious to see how he looks in college.

Bates is incredibly overrated imo. I don’t see the hype with him at all and absolutely wouldn’t take him in the lottery, though I wouldn’t be surprised if Houston took him 2nd given how people think he’s the second coming. After college, I guarantee Bates won’t be a lottery pick. He’s a classic case of a dude who matured early and looked amazing, but then the competition caught up to him and he no longer looked so good. Very questionable character, poor length for his size, terrible frame, not a good rebounder, not a good passer, not explosive. People fell in love early on with his KD-like side-to-side dribble and pull up three but he’s not anywhere close to that level of talent in every other aspect.

Ja would go 1/2. Bates mid first. Chet 1/2/3

Alot of people were not on the Morant train so to say he would go 1 is ridiculous.

Ah, I must have misunderstood the question. I assumed it was Morant with what we know now.

If that’s the case, I’m thinking 2nd-3rd, depending on how much Houston likes Mobley. I think he’s viewed as a better guard prospect than Suggs and Green are.

If all three are put in.

I’m going

Cade
Mobley
Suggs
Chet
Green
Ja (where he was at when drafted)
Bates

But bates and Chet have time to rise and erase some doubts that hold them down a little

a tad early to get a clear idea about Bates and Chet but comparing 2019, 2020 and 2021 drafts, not how I'd have it but how I think it goes down re this year's order:

Zion
Chet
Cade
Morant
Mobley
Green
Kuminga
Bates
Suggs
Barnes

I really liked Ja at the draft, so I think its possible he would have been drafted first. He was legit and got drafted second right after the most hyped college player in decades possibly.

I know hindsight is 20 20, and most draft board commenters are just in love with current drafties and unknown factor of it, so I expect most here to downplay JA and ''upplay'' this years guys, but if you remember it right, Ja was legit star prospect, his vision and ability to create for others were super elite.

I mean if it's purely as a prospect I think he would possibly be up to about 5-8, but if we look at his rookie season to, 8-12.

Yea, makes sense. It's just a shame that Bob had all these assets and wasted them. He better hit it out of the park with this years draft or on a trade.

Ja with his college injury concerns would probably go 3 or 4 with a slight chance of falling to 6 depending on if teams were really concerned

Ja 100% goes before Green (who people are talking about going #2 in this draft). Green's athleticism is a huge selling point right now and Ja isn't too far behind if at all in that department while boasting a much better skill set. I could see him passing Cade too because of his athletic abilities assuming Detroit doesn't draft for fit.

As for Chet/Emoni, I don't think either goes in the top 4. Might get consideration over Kuminga though

Ja is a better passer and playmaker, but Green is going to be lights out shooter though. His shooting form is much more pure than Ja’s.
