i think NYK takes someone a little more ready to play than Springer, a guy like Duarte to Murphy to help with scoring/shooting.

I'll go Murphy here. Duarte and Barrett I feel like would be a little redundant, since they're both 6'6", both really good shooters who good but not great creating off the bounce, good not great defenders.

Murphy differs from Barrett a little more, since he's 6'9" (with a 7'0" wingspan) and is an elite perimeter defender (something that Barrett, Duarte and Randle are not).

Thibodeau said on broadcast of the draft combine he wants "a wing who can shoot" so Duarte and Murphy fit the bill. But Thibodeau is a defensive coach. I'm sure he would rather have the guy who's better defensively.

Springer and Murphy is a nice combo. 2 really good defenders with good offensive potential. Both dudes who play hard and have good size for their position (a big PG and a big wing).

Can't go wrong here with Murphy.

Maybe then they go with a big man with 1 of their 2nd round picks. Wouldn't be surprised though if they trade 1 of their 4. draft picks, that's a lot of picks for a team that is not rebuilding and was just 4 seed in the east this past season. They should trade at least 1 of the picks for a veteran.

I feel like Josh Cristopher could be interesting here. Pressures the rim, seems like he should be a good shooter and has some creation potential.

Vrenz will probably still be there when the Knicks pick again at 32. But I suppose if the knicks really want him, maybe they take him now if they think there's a chance he might go late 1st round..

At this stage aren't the Knicks taking best PG available?

Isaiah Jackson could be the new Nerlens Noel. Chris Duarte would actually be a good pick here.

Isaiah Jackson does project as a Nerlens Noel type (or Nicolas Claxton) but those are both backup centers. Knicks have a solid young starting center in Robinson.

With a top 21 pick in a deep draft like this one, I'd be looking to pick someone who could potentially be a starter within the next 1 or 2 years rather than a backup center. Maybe in the 2nd round you look at a backup center..

Guessing the 7 people who voted Cooper didn't realize that this is based off the assumption that Knicks are taking Springer with 19th pick. Seems redundant to take a PG at 19 and another PG at 21..

Why is Jackson not able to be a power forward? Seems athletic enough defensively to cover wings and bigs…?

Is his being pin holed as a C offensive/shooting/ball handling type concerns ? Or is he not able to defend forwards?

Want so many differnt things for Nugs at #26, but wonder about Jackson possibly complimentary to Jokic? Could Jackson defend nba 3’s and 4’s

4's in the NBA today need to be able to either shoot from 3 or be able to handle the ball well/create off the bounce/pass well..Jackson doesn't do any of that.

He projects as a Noel/Claxton clone, backup big man...maybe a starter if he can develop more of an offensive game - which he could possibly do since he's so young..

Draft Grades: all teams get a B

Except:

A- Kings : the new Kings of having a player fall in their laps. Last year haliburton, this year hit even harder with Jalen Johnson

D- Golden State : davion kind of saves this from being an F but really he’s the only one there you can take without overlapping Wagner already. They should go Jalen Johnson and Roko P

C- Orlando : Barnes or Jalen Johnson with the first pick ajd you still get Bouknight. Or Kuminga

D- Pelicans: maybe a c. Don’t like Moody and how did they not notice… Keon is meant to play with Zion

A- Knicks: unconventionally the Knicks made sure they made an impact on their roster with 2 late 1st picks. Springer is a top 10 player in this draft ajd a perfect starting pg compliment to Barrett. Sharife Cooper steps in day 1 as an impact guard ajd prob top 15 backup pg/6th man in the league and the type that could be a top 5 one of those down the road.

Positions are defensive. I see your offensive limitations belief. I kind of agree but think I see some flashes of potential in those areas

Any thought on his capability defensively against nba wings/guards? Does he have that lateral quickness? This guy is a terror team defender if he’s capable of covering the 3 or 4 or potentially guards

Idk I see maybe a potential all defense player as a forward if he becomes competent offensively. As a 5 you’re right. He’s a backup at best

Positions are typically defensively but in the modern NBA if you have more than 1 guy on the court at a time who can't shoot from 3 and/or create off the dribble you're screwed.

From what I've seen he is decent in terms of lateral quickness to defend out on perimeter but his strength defensively is rim protection/defending the paint which won't translate as well to the NBA since the dudes he'll have to defend in the paint will be much bigger than they were in college.

He's athletic, plays hard/good motor, really quick/agile, runs like a deer and can blocks shots and is 6'10" and only 19 yrs old though so there is some upside for sure, and worth a 1st round pick.

Yeah I like him a lot the more I watch. Super special blocking shots from off ball around the basket and then also blocking shots on ball from the perimeter.

I don’t want the jazz getting him. That’s an ideal fit though. Sure can play small ball backup C a bit. But I don’t want him covering MpJ and helping over on Jokic more than covering C.

I normally agree with the idea of not more than 1 non shooter these days. But his explosiveness as a cutter and one move 2-3 dribble type makes me think he could play offensively w a gobert type. ESP if that’s with ingles or bogs and 2 guards that shoot.
