But he isnt some sniper. He is a set foot 3PT guy. This isnt a dude you want shooting off a screen or in duress IMO. But if he has room and is set, he can be excellent.

Seems like an ideal pick for a good-ish team looking for a day 1 contributor. Wont be a star, will be a rotation guy if not 4-5th option starter.

Yes, this is a valid concern. Theoretically, he would fit playing with Russ and Beal in the Wizards quite well..Particularly if his perimeter D is a good as advertised...

His shooting from kick outs is great, but he isnt going to be a screen curling sniper either.

His defensive IQ and positioning is so so sound. Means to say you don’t have to teach him defense he knows where to be and what to do.... which I can’t say for everyone playing in the NBA.

He doesn’t get lost. There is times though we’re he’s late/slow (Not the quickest mover, game fluctuations everybody lapses especially young) but the most important part is once he realizes that he is late he knows where to go and what to do. No headless chook I’m lost wtf do I do sort of thing.

And shooting... man he can shoot the cover off the thing. Has the Joe Ingles/Larry Bird bring up to lol. But man he can get hot. Mostly standill but on your team it’s starts off 4v4 for your superstar. Can’t let him shoot like that.
Also I really couldn’t tell you who was a smarter cutter to the basket then Trey in this class honestly.

Hell most likely guard 3’s and small 4’s (basically another wing).

I like Trey

A 3+D Wing which comes exactly as advertised. 1, or 1/2 pull dribble he can do. With that kind of shooting it’s a free bonus there :). Nice passer too.

Great spot, though Wright and more weight behind him.

I think Tre is going to be a very very solid pro.

i think most are high on his defensive potential due to being a solid athlete with good size who should be able to switch if he commits and is coached on defense.

My man Trey doesn’t need coaching on defense lol.

In fact if you take the bottom half defenders in the NBA right now they would needing actual learned coaching before Trey’s name gets called up.

I see qualities of a Siakim with the ability to play 4-3. He probably won't be a good off the dribble scorer. However, I think he can pump fake from 3, and finish or pass it close to the basket off of 2-3 dribbles.

I think he's a top 3 choice for the Hawks at 20. If they do trade Gallo for a backup pg, I think he's the guy.

bey is overrated. very high floor limited ceiling. i wouldnt be surprised if mid, late round picks became a better player 10 yrs in.

You mean mid-Round picks… like Bey? No one said he had a high ceiling, either. You’re just that guy, eh?

Trey is on my list of favs he’s going to be a really really solid role player. Not many come into the NBA with the prerequisite 3+D. There’s others like Mikal, OG etc.

He has well defined role and it really is on the more valuable side of things. Plug in and play. Every single team has multiple 3+D guys.

Size, wingspan, toolset, polish etc etc. he has all of that.

I see him more top 20 then top 30 considering how drafts end up (15 +- on av actually have a career).

He actually gives me OG vibes (pre take off this year, better shooter though won’t be the scorer but imagine pre OG with a 40% 3 ball, that’s value town).

Just found out he rocks a 1.7ppp on cuts and above 80% FG which ranks him 1#. Though he was the best cutter in this class bar none but that confirms it.

I mean he isn’t one dimensional.

Saw pick and pops, 1 and 1/2 dribble pull ups, tiny bit of iso and driving. Underrated part is the link passing really good there.

Not a great rebounder

But other then that Trey is a solid to safe bet.

Bey is slow and methodical in his movements, Murphy is more energetic and his release is lightning quick. Highly skilled trait to possess. Bey wishes.

I was very high on Saddiq Bey (had him 9th on my big board). I like Trey Murphy but not nearly as much (20th, albeit in a much stronger draft).

I get the comp in terms of them both profiling as potential elite 3&D players, but Bey showcased a lot more game in college. He has a better physical profile in terms of strength and athleticism. While he was a bit predictable in college, he still boasted some off the bounce game and the ability to physically dominate. I think of Bey as something closer to an OG Anunoby.

Murphy worries me because he's already such a specialist. A lot of specialists in the NBA showed a lot more game in college and then settled into their role. Murphy's combination of size and C&S game is a serious weapon in college, but will it be in the NBA? He doesn't move great on offense, has basically no off-the bounce game. On defense he looks a lot better but I still worry he's not going to be a good enough athlete in the NBA to be a big-time difference-maker in college.

I'm a little biased about guys who are strictly "3&D" in college. I'm more into prospects who settle into that role when their other skills don't quite translate as well as we hoped.

He gets pushed around easily by guards, he'll need to add alot of muscle of course like most rookies....however it should be noted despite his great length and size...he's an atrocious rebounder and shys away from contact and physical play. I think he'll be a good 3pt specialist but his overall game is lacking. People are intrigued by his height and wingspan. I don't blame them. I just don't think it will translate into a player worthy of a pick in the teens. He was projected as a second round pick until a month ago. I think he'll go late 1st and contribute to help a team's shooting woes. He'll get his buckets. Just players like Murphy get crushed in the playoffs when it becomes more physical. I hope he proves me wrong.

Bey is incredibly overrated so...sure? I see Murphy more like Cam Johnson tbh. A solid #5 guy and late 1st talent. He doesn't have quick twitch and will not be nearly the defender at the NBA level with the athletes there like he's been in college. But he can sit in corners and hit threes and has some defensive versatility that will allow him to defend 3s and 4s at a good, not elite level.
