Moody makes the most sense here imo as possible 3+D guy to put next to Zion, I like the Keon fit next to Zion as well, but this pick imo is pretty damn wide open, wouldn't be surprised if Griff just takes the best shooter here and pulls the trigger on Kispert.

I’m 100% in on Kispert to the Pels. Just makes too much sense. Hopefully this whole idea of Griff not caring about spacing has come to an end. I believe When it come to the big time scorers in the league last year, Ingram was 2nd to Curry when it came to lack of spacing. Zion was a little further down. But overall the spacing for that team was ridiculously bad.

Ideally Pels trade down a few spots to get Kispert, but since we aren’t doing trades here, I’d be fine with them reaching to get him.

Get your Korver/JJ/Harris kind of player that you can just plug into your starting lineup and you know he fits perfectly.

If Griff is not trading Ingram this summer then spacing is my #1 priority. Get Kispert, get a big that can space the floor and build from there.

it'll be interesting what happens with Zo actually, that'll change a lot about this pic. if Zo is not in their future plans I'd def take Springer here.

I dont know. I feel like if they do decide to move on from Zo, they're probably going to give Kira the keys to the starting PG spot. This roster is just such a mess.

Zo, Hart, Kira, NAW. None of them are consistent shooters, Zo is the only true PG in that group but he isn't a threat off the dribble in the half court. Kira is a PG, but he isn't a great facilitator. NAW I know you have been higher on him than I have ever been. He just has bench/rotation guard written all over him in my opinion. He has pretty much just been meh in every category. Meh shooter, meh off the ball, meh with the ball in his hands, meh defender and so on haha. I think he will progress into a solid guard off the bench, but not much more.

So I honestly have no clue what they're going to do with this roster. I think Ingram and Zion fit just fine with each other. I think Ingram's "dominating the ball" narrative is mostly just narrative. Basically every stat shows he truly doesnt have the ball in his hands that much. So to me if I was Griffin I would have the mindset of this summer of everyone and every pick outside of Zion/Ingram are moveable and I would be looking to initiate the moves. First thing first, get a big that can shoot. Then get a guard that can move off the ball and shoot. Get some legit sized wings on the roster that can come off the bench and defend.

That is why I say Kispert here. That is one easy fix to one of the major holes to fill. Then ideally use some draft picks and some young guys (one or multiple of Kira, Hayes, NAW) to get a big that stretches the floor. This really shouldn't have been that hard of a roster construction for Griff (especially with Ingram progression as a 3pt shooter). But he seems to just continue to shoot himself and this roster in the foot with every move. The lack of spacing he has put around Zion and Ingram is truly astonishing to watch. It actually amazes me that Zion and Ingram put up the scoring numbers and efficiency numbers that they did with the lack of spacing they had to deal with.

So ya long story short, I think the Pels have a ton of holes and a ton of weird non great fitting pieces on this roster. All because of Griff. So I have no clue what they're going to do. Probably another combo guard with a questionable shot or a non shooting big man though.

I’d probably take Moody they need some semblance of defense over there and spacing/shooting

Zion/Ingram/Moody

Ingram plays PF (It’s really a two wing league anyway and Ingram is long).

Might be little top heavy because they still need a rim protecting center and a maybe a PG. There is some merit handing the reigns over to Zion and play Lebron archetype ball but even he likes to play with a guard. If Ball stays that’s probably the bet.

Trade for Myles Turner (I love that duo together lol)

PG - Ball
SG -Moody (Play three wings to attack)
SF - Zion (Basically Lebron ball)
PF - Ingram (Handle the rock, wing scorer)
C - Turner

Lot of length and 3x players that don’t need a lot of touches and can focus on defense and spacing.

Not a bad little team.

good points, I agree, i like Kira, but he's more of a downhill guard than anything else too, which also kinda doesn't make sense with Zion, so not really sure here.

Kispert is probably the easiest fit, you're right, at least until they figure out their long term roster because that entire roster is all over the place right now...and I'm also less sold on the Zion/Ingram fit than you are but we'll see.

man, Griff has done such a terrible job since being handed the best prospect since LeBron...just stupid.

im the biggest Wies fan on this board but what's the point of this vote? u really think they'd go this route? they could easily just trade down to the 20s and be able to grab him most likely, and if they want a shooter, Kispert is available.

way too cute of a pick.

Ya I like the Ingram/Zion fit and I think they can be pretty easy (or at least should be) to build around. But Im also not married to keeping Ingram, for awhile now Ive been pushing the Ingram/JJJ swap over on the trade board. I think if they can use him to get a legit big man that can stretch the court and defend, Id be all over that move. But ya I think at the moment they're not a bad fit, above neutral fit is how I view them.

And ya no matter how you view the long term potential fit of those two, there aint no denying just how badly Griff has screwed that roster over. First thing first, that team's core should be

Ball
Ingram
Hunter
Zion
Floor spacing big

Instead of trading Jrue for a bunch of picks that they wont get their hands on until after Zion's rookie deal is done, and to get Adams and Bledsoe... Maybe flip Jrue for a big man that can stretch the floor, maybe like a Myles Turner. Maybe instead of taking Kira (who I like, but ya he is a downhill guard that doesnt really fit with that team), get a wing that can shoot like Nesmith or Bey. No team can have too many wings or guys that can shoot, especially a team that has no shooters or wings outside of Ingram.

It hurts my head thinking about how much Griff has just made horrible decision after horrible decision.

Weird pick.

a) Tons of rumors that pick will be traded. Pelicans want to win now. Zion wants to win now or he will demand a trade. They want veterans, not rookies.

b) Things up in the air with Lonzo. Staying or going? Which one determines if they might scoop up a PG here like Springer/Giddey/McBride or even Butler depending on his health

I guess I'll vote based on the assumption that they keep the pick and they keep Lonzo. So I'd say Moody is the guy - put him on the wing, a good shooter to go with Ingram and Zion..

I suppose , but he really impressed the hell out of me with his athletic testing and solid anthro at the combine suggesting he is going to become more than a role player and enough so I think he can be viewed in a better light than before it. Maybe this is 15 picks too soon based on age and the strength of this draft but I think its not impossible he sneaks into the 20s anyway and I would give him serious looks this high I think he will be that good. Only thing that concerns me is the ft%

Talk of fit and trying to win instantly is the same bonehead mistake we made with both Chris Paul and Anthony Davis. The Pelicans aren’t nearly goood enough to be trying to fill in a missing piece when the roster still is lacking talent. They need to be taking the best player available, whoever you think that might be.

The Pels need to be stockpiling high end players and trying to become a top tier team. We were actually fairly healthy this year, but if this team gets tested for depth, it could get bad fast.

I think we need to establish an identity defensively before we worry about spacing issues that didn’t even really crop up. Our floor spacing will eventually bite us in the ass if we go deep in the playoffs, but we’ll never get there if we don’t buy in and put in work on defense.

I think talent is the most important, so versatility and defense on the wings is second… then shooting.

I wouldn’t be at all mad with Sengun. I like Moody here for us though too. Reaching for a perceived fit will be awful though. No need to get cute, we’re like a few rotation players from being very very good, even with our “issues.”

My pick on "this list" is Moses Moody, who is projected by some to be a 3 and D player in the NBA (both of which the Pelicans need).

However, IMO there is good chance that this consensus mock draft goes completely off the rails after the 5th pick.

And therefore there is a good chance that Franz Wagner is available at the Pel's spot, and I can see the Pel's taking him.

6'9" SF/PF who has the potential to eventually be at least an average 3 point shooter in the NBA, with some defense and a little playmaking ability.

IMO he would be an ideal big to play next to Zion.

interesting yearly moves by new orleans, trading down ever yeary as you are a relatively young team with plenty of rookies and sophomores yet win now players don't really help significantly to make you make the playoffs. hope they can sign kyle lowry.

Didn't love Kispert at 10, but I'd like it at 17.

Also, I think too many people are worried about fit too soon with the Pels, when the much bigger problem is we just need talent in general. If we get to the point where we're winning a ton of games and need to get a perfect fit to get us over the hump, we should cross the bridge when we get there, but we're just not deep, and we're not really top heavy either.

I think the team absolutely needs to address shooting. Before we even start worrying about finding bigs that can shoot, we need players at shooting positions that can actually shoot. The guys that were supposed to be spacers were god awful (Redick, Melli, etc). But more importantly, we need better guard play, versatility, defense, communication, depth, and physicality.
