I fully understand the appeal of securing the bags of money, but he would not 'turn down' 20M. It's not like he wouldn't get drafted next year in almost all cases. But yes, it makes more sense to enter the draft this year unless he doesn't feel ready yet.
When I see a sure-thing lottery pick go back to school for another year, I think of Ivan Rabb.
He was projected to be a mid/late 1st round pick in 2016 and ended up staying in school and getting drafted in the second round in 2017, signining a contract with only $2.3 million guaranteed. Had he come out in 2015 and been drafted 10th (being conservative, I think he was projected to be 8th), he would have made $5.5 million over the first 2 years and an extra $3.5M if he was extended for the 3rd year (vs. $1.6M in his current contract).
Basically, he would have had his finances solved for his lifetime (with a 4% return on his investments, he could have bought a $1.2M house and lived with $100,000-$120,000 of today's dollars for life) just with his 2-year contract alone.
