I see more of a JR Smith, which usually gets argued because it's literally impossible for people to ignore incidents with JR Smith like Hennessey, the pipe or his last big screw up on Cleveland but Jr was extremely talented and if given the hreenlight Edwards will continue to get could put up the same numbers. Actually most people knew all along that JR Smith had allstar level talent but was a knucklehead, low IQ type of player. It may take some time for people to realize that with Edwards or perhaps by then he mightve matured a bit to make this sentiment false but for now it's hard for me to see him as more than just a crazy talented player you'd probably never wanna give a major ton of responsibility to. Lucky for them they have KAT already who fills that role.

What off-court "incidents" have you seen from Edwards?

I never said I have.

Then it makes absolutely no sense and borderline slanderous to say "I see a JR Smith because it's literally impossible for people to ignore incidents"

Ok I see. What I'm saying is I see a very similar skillset as JR Smith however when I bring that up other people tend to disagree because they can't look past JR Smiths reputation for boneheaded play, statements and aloof attitude. Nothing criminal or anything but just things that could prevent someone with that much talent from reaching thier top potential or leadership.

Is Edwards literally giving girls "the pipe" on Instagram? No but the guy does give some of the most obnoxious interviews, coupled with the fact that he's not won at any stage in his life. Not HS, not college and now not the NBA. One can just see a guy who's professionalism doesn't match his talent level.

I hate the "never won" argument. Totally ignores context.

-Georgia was never exactly a basketball power. And they improved in his season there from the year before.
-People look at his 17-14 record as a HS senior, but they were state runner up that year and state champions the year before. The average record was because they played top teams in the state.

I know we all wish we could see him put up these performances in wins against good teams and more specifically good defenses, but this will have to do for now....

One more comment I'd make regarding interviews. He's a 19-year old kid.

I still remember a draft prospect a while back asked who he'd compare his game to. He said he had a combination of the jumper of Steph Curry, the athleticism of Russell Westbrook and the handles of Jamal Crawford. Seems crazy right? Well that was Zach LaVine, who has developed into one of the best offensive players in the league with crazy hops and a 42% 3-point stroke.

Edwards should win rookie of the year...

His first 35 NBA games he was 14.1ppg 30.0FG%

His last 35 NBA games he was 24.9ppg 46.5FG%

Overall in his rookie season he finished at 19.6ppg 42FG%

Kevin Durant in his rookie season finished at 19.8ppg 43FG%

So because of these two stats he should win ROY? That's pretty reductive if you ask me.

I dont think his interviews are obnoxious. He is genuine and honest--a farcry from the society we currently live in.

So who had him scoring one of the highest number of points in history in his first playoffs game?

In just his second season?

He was the #1 overall pick...

not something you can predict but he's always been universally regarded as a damn explosive scorer so it's not crazy?

I can say, though, that his outside shot has been a surprise - at least to me. I expected a player who was stylistically more like Dwade...or a more talented, less volatile Dion Waiters.

Both Edwards and Beal are do it all SG with no real weakness, above average vertical and both are build like tight ends.

When Edwards was at UGA i said he could be Kobe but his middle would be Bradley Beal, i'm still sticking with that

Edwards is making all the Lamelo fans look really bad right now. Lamelo won the ROY but Edwards is looking like the legit super star right now.

I mean...so is LaMelo

20p 7r 8a on 43/39/87 shooting with 1.6 steals (3.4 BPM, 3.3 VORP, 55% TS)
vs.
21p 5r 4a on 44/36/79 shooting with 1.5 steals (1.2 BPM, 2.0 VORP, 56% TS)

They are both amazing, doesn't seem worth it to tear one down in favor of the other.

Edwards is great but he is on a much more talented team than Lamelo is. Lamelo is the Hornets best player and he doesn’t have much support besides Bridges. Ant has Towns, Russell, Beasley, to take the offensive burden off of him.

I think you should have Bev or even McDaniels in that list before Beasley.

Beasley is basically Oubre but with better understanding of his limitations, but still makes alot of head scratchers.

Sure wish the Hawks were more aggressive when Minny was supposedly looking to move off the pick.

Why? Beasley is better offensively than Beverley and McDaniels...
