can you give me a single name of a 6-10 player in college that takes the same level of shots as Jabari? i'm sure it's a long list considering the need for that tweet.

Mate as I said I’m not arguing either way. But you keep on asking the other guy for evidence to support his point whilst not providing any of your own evidence to support the point that you’re stating as fact. I’m genuinely interested to see evidence that Smith is taking more difficult shots than everyone else, and that they’re still not bad shots despite the low %.

you're asking me to provide evidence for a negative after YOU posted the tweet, which was really nothing more than a useless hit piece.

no, I don't have the list the of 6-10 players that took pull ups and fadeaways at the same rate as Jabari, and I don't need to have that. it's called watching college bball and knowing those players, aside from a handful of guys we've seen, don't really exist.

Luka Garza shot 55% from the 2...what does that mean exactly without context? was he out here taking stepbacks and pullups?

Yes, I put the tweet out there as a discussion point (which seems to have succeeded) in the hope that I’d see some evidence either way as to how this affects Smith. This is a discussion forum, not a competition.

you're more than welcome to post anything you want, I just think it's a completely meaningless stat for pretty obvious reasons, and some to be nothing more than a hit piece by whoever tweeted that.

it's probably not even a sustainable stat! Who shoots 45% from 3 and 28% from 2s away from the rim? His FT% shooting is good too. He'll probably end up in the high 30s on non rim 2s and this will be a bit of a knock against him.

The intense and confused dude isn't wrong about there being few 6'10 guys who even have the confidence and green light from their coaches to have a pullup game like Smith. It's basically just Porter Jr and Durant that I can think of in the NBA who are bigger than the litany of 6'8 small forwards who can play the 3 in the modern NBA who take those. It's just not clear that he should be yet, considering how few have gone in. On the other hand, a dude hitting what he is from 3 and the line taking those shots normally isn't a disaster efficiency wise.

247 said before the year that he "(s)cores well off post ups in the midrange where he can spin and attack or pivot and face up. Extended dribbling is not a strength but can attack off a couple dribbles." So it sounds like he might just not have the handle or footwork tight enough yet to get good looks when he goes 1 on 1, which is fine at 18.

That's a very weird comp. At first I thought he was talking about their college seasons but then I realized he's comparing Jabari Smith to 3 NBA seasons. Just a strange way to do things.

Here is Jabari's shot breakdown (unassisted makes in parentheses):

Code: Select all

DKS: 7-7 (2)
LAY: 15-22 (11)
MID: 15-54 (11)
3PT: 28-62 (8)
FTS: 36-43

Here is Paolo's breakdown for comparison:

Code: Select all

DKS: 10-11 (4)
LAY: 25-44 (12)
MID: 24-55 (18)
3PT: 12-36 (0)
FTS: 47-57

there you go, you just found the list. that's why that original tweet is completely meaningless.

It's the classic low quality, bad take from clyde. Make a indubiously claim with no evidence. Ask for evidence from others.

Pretty sure Paul George is taller than 6’8”. Think he’s closer to 6’10”

I don't think there's any crazy concensus in that group but he's starting to become my #1. Love how smooth his shot looks and how he is pretty fearless with it.

No denying the shot looks good. I'm more concerned with other aspects but we will see.

Rough game against South Carolina. . Just a bad one relative to hype and expectation.

jmo of course but I don't see an argument for anyone else being taken ahead of Jabari.
