Re: Jayson Tatum
Tatum is shooting .875 from FT. His shot mechanics has to be excellent. When was the last time a large SF/small PF prospect shot like this. Most NBA caliber guard prospects don't even shoot this well.

Re: Jayson Tatum
I never got the criticism from people purely because he wasn't a jump out of the gym explosive athlete. He's still a very good athlete in many ways, and has an extremely high skill level for someone his size.
He's a fluid player comfortable in every aspect of the game and I expect him to be up there in ROY discussions next year.
I've spent most of the season saying the top 4 of this draft is pretty self contained, but with the question marks of DSJ and Tatum's further impressive play, I think he probably slides in to that 4 spot from a big board sense. Could even sneak in to 3rd depending on how concerned teams are about Jacksons shot. Don't think he can beat out Fultz/Ball at any point though.

His FT form is picture perfect. His jumper has tremendous form as well. I think he's going to be an excellent shooter from mid range and 3. My biggest question mark is how well he's going to finish at the rim

Whose the fourth after Fultz, Ball, Jackson?
Probably one of those Monk homers.
I have DSJ over Tatum definitively.

Ok. That was ESPN top play of the day level. Not explosive lmao. Head near rim.

Paul George shot 91% from the line the year he entered the draft. He was a sophomore though. Incredibly rare for a wing in his age 18 season to shoot this well.

Good question. For me, he looks taller than A.Jefferson when they are standing together and isn't AJ supposed to be 6'10?

that was nice. I can see why some might think he's not explosive because for the most part he's a very smooth player and only rarely plays above the rim. But in this game he soared for a board, had that big putback dunk you mentioned and another blocked shot which he took the length of the court for the layup. That looked fairly explosive to me. Top 5 pick for sure right?

Amile is 6'8. He is 6'7 without shoes. I think Tatum will end up being 6'8.5 with shoes

Re: Jayson Tatum
Jayson Tatum has really proved me wrong in the last half of his season. I think he's a top 5 talent. I don't question his ability to guard SFs at the next level. On offense, he just needs to shoot the 3 ball more consistently. His ability to create his own shot is really advanced.

Just curious...which franchise player could you pair Tatum with as a complimentary piece?

Are we talking elite franchise guys like tier one of the league or just main pieces of franchises? Cause a guy like IT could use him as another shot creator to alleviate his workload but I don't know if IT is considered a franchise guy by the masses.

Always hard with ISO guys
Melo as an example as talented as he is it's always hard to fit pieces around him

Tier one guys you can play through and win a title with. Still my biggest issue with Tatum is I don't think he is good enough to demand the usage needed to take the ball out of an elite perimeter player's hands in order to play to his strengths. I'm thinking he needs to be paired with a bigmen or players like Giannis or Ben Simmons who could one day be elite without elite halfcourt scoring. Just a very narrow range.

Yeah, if a team has the requisite pieces for Tatum then I could see him being grouped in with the big 4 but otherwise he just doesn't offer the level of roster flexibility that I see with that group....even if he is just as talented in a vacuum.

Almost all of them. I think almost all franchise players would love a 19 year old two way wing with one of the best scoring skill sets we've seen come into the draft in awhile.
I think a very poor narrative of Tatum being some guy that can't play within a team system and just stops the ball is not correct.

I doubt he works well with an on-ball high-volume scorer. But yeah, I don't see fit-issues with anybody else although I also don't see a particularily great fit anywhere either. A player like Porzingis who can't create his own shot consistently would be as close to optimal in terms of fit as there is imo.
