Whitmore is a better shooter, better handles at this stage, uses his physical edge when attacking. Don't think Brown is the ideal comparison but I think Whitmore can ultimately have that impact if he reaches his uspide.

coming out of Cal, however, they are about on par - neither guy very advanced at passing or dribbling. give brown a lot of credit for working hard and improving those aspects of his game. maybe cam can do the same - not sure of his work ethic.

1. You can't count on any arbitrary player to improve as much as Jaylen Brown. That's fools gold (basically how every Warriors fan thinks Kuminga can become Jaylen Brown).

2. Jaylen Brown actually had much more of a guard role at Cal. He handled the ball a ton. He also turned it over a lot, but his A:T ratio was 0.67. Cam's is even worse at 0.43 with only 0.7 ast per game compared to 2 ast per game for Jaylen at Cal.

on number 1, i agree 100%. i'd take Cam in the 7 to 9 range, but i'd be very concerned. you're right, he has to improve a lot and you can't expect Jaylen Brown improvement. you can hope for it, but you can't expect it.

Do you think he'd fit well with Paolo and Franz?

Whitmore is a power player who as of now has a hgh motor to attack the basket at will and be a danger in transition offense. He's shown capabilities towards being a potential perimeter threat. He will have to continue to improve in that area so he can solidify his potential to be a more versatile threat on offense both inside and out on the perimeter. As for defense, he more of a weakside defender that a one on one defender. This makes me wonder if he's willing to improve for the better as a defender as he moves along with his career. My initial concern out the gate with Cam is as a power player who drives to the bucket is him clogging the lane and narrowing down the offense. That said, it's possible that he can fit in with P5 and Wagz.

On a team that desperately needs more ball movement and fewer players clogging the paint, not in my view.

I’m so iffy on him as a top 6 pick. He’s a rotation player no doubt, but I wonder if his playstyle works on bigger guys. Love how hard he plays though. Where’s the best fit for him?

Honestly, I'd be suprised it the Pistons let Whitmore fall past them. I think he has NBA ready size and plays both sides of the ball. He's young for his draft class so he fits a rebuild team that can develop him without pressure to win.

Cunningham & Ivey form the backcourt. Pistons just made an aggressive move for Jalen Duren last draft. The need wings with upside on both ends. Whitmore profiles as a potential #1 option who's walking into a situation where he's #3 behind Cade and Ivey, with room to go.

He goes 5.

Is he 6'7'' though? Like Mathurin, seems like he's a couple of inches shorter than his reported height.

He measured 6' 5.75'' without shoes at the combine, so essentially 6' 6'' to 6' 7'' with shoes.

There's a little bit of baby LeBron in him, but I'm a little worried about his wingspan.

Uh oh alert the wingspan police! Violation in progress!

He plays more bully ball and is more of a power SF. Jaylen Brown has certainly developed a lot but back in his rookie season he looked way more fluid as an athlete and had more vertical around the rim. He also has a plus WS.

I really don't see the comparison with Whitmore
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

Corey Maggette for base. Vince Carter for upside.

6'7 with a 6'8.50" wingspan isn't terrible but, yeah, he definitely could be longer.

Mathurin measured at 6'4.50" at the combine. Whitmore measured at 6'5.75". So, there's a clear difference there. Whitmore is a legit 6'7 with shoes on while Mathurin is closer to 6'6. Mathurin is longer than Whitmore (Mathurin's wingspan is 6'9, Whitmore's is 6'8.50"), though.

For what is worth, I do think that the two could play a similar role in the NBA.

No chance his "official" measurement is accurate. He's 6'6" or less with sneakers on. My guess is his actual height barefoot is between 6'4.5" and 6'4.75"

Why are you guessing? He just got measured a couple weeks ago.
