Very VERY big get. I really like that pickup.

Tatum and Jackson is a lethal combo two very high IQ players. both can create for themselves and others. Might be fighting for draft spots in 2017 if Frank doesn't go on mission.

You guys think Jackson's commitment will affect Smith's decision now? Cause I've read that Smith, Bam and Giles might come in a package deal and with Jackson already there and I don't see Thornton being a one-and-done prospect it could create a log jam at the PG spot for Coach K. Also, how close was BYU at getting Jackson to commit?

Smith/Bam to NC State and Giles to Duke imo. I used to think it was 50/50 (Wake Forest/Duke) with Giles, but I think Duke became the big favorites when Tatum committed to Duke and Giles transferred to Oak Hill.

I think Smith was always a pipedream for Duke.

UK's backcourt could be insane in 16-17 if they land De'Aaron Fox and Malik Monk. Fox/Monk would arguably be better than Wall/Bledsoe.

Didn't think Smith was going to Duke to begin with and I wouldn't be surprised if Thornton takes a shot and leaves after a year if he has a good season. Considering the players around him this year he could have one of those. If he does leave then yeah Smith might be back on the radar but I thought NC State was in the lead for Dennis.

heard BYU was in the lead for Frankie before he blew up over the summer and garnered all this extra attention.

As it currently stands, Michael Porter and Trae Young are a package deal with Deandre Ayton as a possible third.

So Duke 16-17 could be something like,...

Thornton-Jackson
Jones/Kennard
Tatum
Giles-Obi
Jeter-Vrankovic

Plus maybe Gabriel/Bolden
Just hand them the title already.

I really am not as informed about the future classes, 17, 18, etc. People seem to be putting down 2016, and hyping 2017. How good is 2018?

Havent really seen much of any of them, caught some of Duval and he looked like a franchise pg to me, easily a top 5 pick. He impressed me more than probably anyone I have seen from the 2017 class. He isnt even the number 1 ranked player with guys like Ayton in the class. What is the general consensus on how this class stacks up to the ones prior to it. Also has anyone seen Billy Preston?

Mentioned it in an earlier post but the 2018 class seems to be picking up steam IMO. I too think Duvall is on the rise and will be a top 3 by the time it's all said and done and might end up better than the PGs in a loaded 2017 class.

Ayton has the biggest name and looks legit if he keeps the work up. Rumbling of him getting comfy a top the rankings and not matching will with skill are starting to get louder.

Became a Wendell Carter fan over the summer.

I like EJ Montgomery., Michael Porter Jr., Troy Brown, and Trae Young as well. Trae is tiny but his vision is money, form on his jumper looks god awful but it's pretty wet, tight handle, not rushed, head up, finds his spot on the floor, and looks pesky defensively. That size might hamper him some but as the game gets smaller and faster and shooters/shot creators become the rule his stock could rise. So those are a few names to look for.

Watching Preston made me think Al Harrington. Big gunner that lives a bit too much of the perimeter guard life for my taste. He has time though he might grow on me.

Isn't Duval in the 2017 class or am I wrong?

Some guys I saw in the 2017 class recently for the first time that I liked are Rawle Alkins, Bam Adebayo, and Frank Jackson. Definitely some interesting guys outside of the top ones in that class.

I like Bam. I can see his stock rising with the right school choice. Possible one and doner.

How do you guys go about evaluating AAU talent? YouTube? Are you coaches/friends of coaches/parents on the circuit? Amazes me how insightful some of you posters are. :)
