I feel like I say this every year, but Duke has no excuse to not win it all. They are the most talented in the country by far. It's disgusting.

Damn, so Wendell playing 5, Bags playing 4, Duvall and Allen backcourt, does Matt Jones still have his 8 or 9th year of eligibility left?

I think you're going to see this lineup a lot this year:

C- Marques Bolden
F- Wendell Carter
F- Marvin Bagley
G- Grayson Allen
G- Trevon Duval

Super long up front with good size and length in the backcourt. Bolden better get his ish together this year cause Wendell and a decent wing could play him right out of the rotation.

I suspect that they'd run with this lineup in spurts, as I'm not sure Bagley could play an entire game at the 3, but I guess we'll see.

For what it's worth, Bolden has apparently been looking very good this offseason. That could obviously all be talk, though.

I think we are mostly going to see

C- Carter
F- Bagley
F- Trent
G- Grayson
G- Duval

K rarely goes with a big lineup and Bagley isnt really a 3 in K's system. Tatum rarely played the 3 last year and he is much more a 3 than Bagley is. While Bolden has lost some weight and looks like hes in much better shape, he did get cut from the U-19 team pretty early and its not like that team had stud Cs like Ayton and Bamba on it. Brandon McCoy and Austin Wiley beat him out for the 2 bigs. Bolden did only play 6 minutes a game last year and still got like 5 or 6 coach DNPs as well last year. Im not sure he is going to be ready for more than say 15 minutes a game and I highly doubt we see much of a huge lineup like that.

knew there was someone I was missing. Forgot about Trent. Yeah Bolden is out of here. Time to get that transfer paperwork going. He won't beat out Carter unless something drastic happens and Wendell is a perfect college 5 especially with Bags next to him. Lots of length and activity near the cup and both have enough midrange to make room for the other with the high-low once a zone negates Duvall on the floor. Good shooting with Trent and Allen should give Duvall a chance to attack some closeouts but transition will be where he thrives at this level unless his jumper is much improved.

I'm almost positive that a big part of their recruiting push on Bagley is that they told him they'd give him time at the 3. He wants to be a 3.

That's nasty.

So we can start penciling in Bagley for the #1 pick?

Roy Williams told John Henson he could play the 3 because he wanted to be a 3, that never happened. Lets see how much Knox plays the 2 for UK this season even though Cal said he will play the 2. Plus with Bagley at the 3, that basically leaves just Grayson as the only reliable 3pt shooter on the floor. K never chooses size over 3pt shooting. If Bagley was a better 3pt shooter then I think this would have some chance of happening (still not much) but his 3pt shot is way too inconsistent to play the 3 at Duke. Again Tatum was much more of a 3 than Bagley and he rarely played the 3 last year.

Last year or what other teams have done are not relevant here.

I'd bet pretty good money that we will see stretches of that lineup on the court. Like I said, maybe not for long stretches during the game, but we will see that lineup on the floor. Bagley wants to be a 3 or a 4 and they'll certainly give him run in those spots. Not to mention, his perimeter game has become much better.

That and Coach K simply doesn't have the shooters to play his normal style. You're going to see a lot more PnR and a lot more post ups.

They're not the most talented team "by far" and 19 year olds don't win championships. You need quality experienced players mixed in.

Their athleticism and rebounding in the frontcourt is unmatched though. I can't remember one like it. Towns and WCS weren't as dynamic as Bagley.

If we are talking about raw potential then ya I got Duke #1. But Michigan St and Zona both have plenty of talent with a mix of experience. Right now I think there are 3 top teams then a gap to the rest of the top 10.

Unless you get a Durant or Melo, you ain't winning crap. Bagley has the talent to be that kind of dude, but many top prospects don't pan out in college.

I dont think Duke needs him to be on the level of KD or Melo for them to win it all.

Who's beating them in talent? They still have Allen, added the top player and PG, got Trent and Tucker (Trent is a well rounded guy and Tucker puts in work in the gym so he should translate fine), Wendell Carter who should help lock down the paint, and Bolden is back. That's a deep team for coach K even if they lack shooters.
