For most players his age we get impressed for their U19 numbers, Sengun already played for Turkish national mens team and looked dominant. This kid will develop a total package I have no doubt about it, and if he can play inside in Turkey, he will play well inside in the NBA, where more and more barely forwards play center these days.

Let's not count the EuroBasket qualifiers as meaning anything. The level of that competition is low. Ioannis Athinaiou was probably the best player I saw in any of the Euro qualifiers games. He's a nice player, but he was a 10-11 man on Olympiacos in EuroLeague. Euro qualifiers are clearly a lower level of competition than secondary European leagues like EuroCup and FIBA Champions League. It's a fairly meaningless level to base anything on.

Thats true, but it is still night and day compared to FIBA U19, Euroleague next gen and all these other tournaments. A lot of these youth players never become good enough to make Olympiacos team in their prime period, yet people here still look at guys like Avdija, Ntlikina, Exum getting MVPs in these tournaments and accurately proclaim them lottery picks. Sengun is just a guy who knows how to play and is proven far more already, but people once again stepping on the same rake underrating guy like that, while overrating athletes like Kuminga etc.

Oh, you mean the same geniuses that also claimed the Turkish League is the best league in Europe? Which is totally laughable and just flat out wrong..........never mind that they were wrong on the heights of European players like 80% of the time in the past.

The photos show he's about the same height as Asik.

And significantly taller than both Ersan and Kanter - not to mention Turkeglu. We can put to rest any questions about whether he's tall enough to play center in the NBA.

Had to make an account to say this guy is way underrated. There've been a lot of great Euro big man prospects in the last quarter century, but none of them were so dominant at such a young age. He's got Jokic's skills in Tristan Thompson's body. Every team that passes on Sengun is gonna regret it, and that especially includes the team that drafts Cade #1.

How can you look at those pictures and think the others are the ones with bad eyesight?

22/10/8 yesterday along with 4 steals and 2 blocks
7/12 from the field and 8/11 from the ft%

This guy has fantastic hands and tremendous anticipation.

I think he should be in conversation for being picked between 6 and 10. Even if his outside shot doesn't come along, you are looking at a Domantas Sabonis level/type of player with a considerably better rim protection.

Tremendous performance in a 2 point win - the only negative was 7 to's. I'd also like to see him prove he has 3 point range. I think he will, but he's so effective scoring in other ways, that he hasn't needed a a 3 ball yet. Btw, I'd like to see his teammate, James Blackmon, play in the NBA - maybe even go to whatever team picks Sengun - to help with his adjustment to the NBA.

Some teams will look very stupid passing on this guy, Outside Cade and Suggs, I dont see a better option in this draft.

He's not the most graceful athlete, but he makes up for that with a high BBIQ. Does not look or play like an 18 year old.

Yeah at this point even if you think he's going to be a negative on defense, he handles and passes way too well to be characterized as simply a back-to-the basket scorer. He'll be great rolling to the basket and off dribble handoffs, and as NBA offenses get more and more potent, the value of being an elite offensive rebounder will only increase.

For those who watch a lot of Sengun and the NBA, could he be compared to the big man version of Fred Vanvleet? Excellent hands, smart player, crafty and maybe a little undersized (not sure about being undersized though). But essentially the type of player who doesn't have all the physical gifts in the world but still gets the job done at a high level.

If I understand it correctly, his team beat higher seed TOFAS 2-0, and will play ANadolu in semi finals? He had a pretty bad game today, but would be interesting how he performs against top 4 team in Europe.

It's easier to compare him to Domantas Sabonis and/or Pau Gasol, man!

This feels like such a Wizards pick.

Has an 18-year-old ever been MVP of a pro basketball league before Sengun?

No he doesn’t but it seemed like much of the game was below the rim. Very intrigued by Sengun but that part was pretty concerning.

Not saying Sengun's as good a prospect as Luka, but Luka did turn 19 before he won his trove of MVPs.
