He's just so terrible at defense that he's obviously not playable in the NBA if he continues at this level.
Now, you could argue that he would play better defense on a team that cared even slightly about defense, but he's probably not going to get to that level on the tanking Jazz.
The Jazz have created a really weird situation where they're intentionally throwing games by being as bad as possible as they can be defensively, but are publicly calling out young players for not playing defense.
They specifically benched Keyonte George for being the worst defender in the league... But they're trying to lose games so it feels.... I don't know.
there's no excuse for blown assignments, lack of hustle, failing to close out, etc and that is what even tanking teams are hoping to see. It's one thing for a guy like George who is undersized, to struggle due to size/athleticism it's another entirely for someone that has appropriate size and athleticism for their position like Sensa to. The problem with George is he's a knucklehead on top of having limitations so it's worse imho because there's no room for error and he's not switchable even in theory unlike Sensa. Jazz needed to jettison a few vets years ago but Ainge is allergic to trading unless he's fleecing teams and they're not biting for his asking price. This sucks for the young guys who have to sit behind these scrubs even on a tanking team. It's serves nobody. Ainge dgaf. All he cares about is lucking into an elite prospect via the draft.
