Reed is legit. Although he does like to go to same spots too often.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

It was pretty obvious that he was the best player in the class after Topic tore his ACL.

Never understood why people who follow the draft get so upset about normal draft stuff. Projecting players off of previous performances is the foundation of all of it.

What's crazy about Sheppard isn't his efficient shooting.
It is his poise, ability to play point guard like a veteran, and his insane ability to poke at the ball. He will lead the league in steal and deflections one day, maybe even year one.

His floor to me is a better defending JJ Redick, but I think he has a chance to be a 24ppg scorer in his prime. There's just so much value in a player that can effortlessly hit 30 footers, not just catch and shoot but with the ball in his hands as well. On top of the BBIQ and defense. His wingspan/being an inch shorter is the only reason he's not going #2 or #1. It just feels like the classic "Washington passes on all-star lead ball-handler/scorer for a bust" is going to happen again, Washington absolutely needs to take this guy
I think I got this one right
Reed is the real deal and Washington would trade Sarr for Reed in a heartbeat after these SL performances

His biggest attribute is as a connector and passer. Reed doesn't over dribble. He doesn't excessively dance. He makes quick passes....gets defense to slightly move and attacks.
Reed looks like Bob Knight and popovichs son
I like him for those reasons number 1. Comparing him to buddy hield lol lol
You are handicapping your team the moment you take him due to his size and athleticism. I am not saying he can't make it work but it is the Trae Young dilemma of if you can avoid having a small pg then you should even if the guy turns out to be good. And I think most of us would agree the payoff with Reed is nowhere near what Trae is.
Reed is going to be a disadvantage on a nightly basis if he is a starting pg. Which starting PGs in the NBA do you think he can guard well? It a lot closer to 5 than 15.. which isn't a great start for a guy that profiles to be a sub 15 ppg scorer.
As far as Reeds iso 1 v 1 man on man defense; he doesn't profile as an aaron craft, but is he worse then curry ? idn......team defense, including transition steals off deflections will however be ELITE. Reed could be a 2 steal per game guy.
I think Reed will be the new age point guard going forward - he doesn't "feel" like a pointguard in the traditional sense because why ? .... because he doesn't want to pound the ball into the floor. most point guards today dominate the ball, even great passers like nash or doncic, they want to first pound rocks for 12 seconds
The shephard comps are awful - kirk hinrich ? not eve a comparison as a passer.
He can have a jokic like impact on his team offensively. His style turns your offense into spurs free flowing, synergy.
Reed has a little kyle anderson in him, a little ginobili in him, .......IMO as a physical prospect in the traditional sense and way nba is played - he is a 6th man or roleplayer in nba
AS a new age point that can completely change the flow of an offensive system - i think he is #1 overall pick. He is an elite passer and ball mover the likes the nba game isn't used to seeing.
his shot has translated big time and float game thus far.
his impact on flow is very noticeable in summer league - i kept mentioning his passing but it's not even just passing specificially as it is his entire operation as a player is just ....efficient and quick , and the antithesis of practically every nba harden style player and i fricken love it. It's boom ....boom or boom - least amount of dribbles necessary to navigate for a shot. least amount of waiting to pass the ball - and then combined with his deadly efficiency and range on the shot - it's like a turbocharge to an offenses flow.......it's peak efficiency and velocity
There is no iso - to his game or pounding the ball into the floor. he truly may revolutionize the point guard position.
I personally think efficiency should be valued in analytics more in "amount of dribbles" and "time"

I've been impressed by how comfortable he seems pulling up going right. Usually easier for guys to pull up opposite of shooting hand because its easier to maintain balance, especially young guys struggle with this, but a lot of Sheppards pull ups in SL so far have been going right, including the logo bomb he hit

Beyond an elite shooter. Some of those Curry comparisons sounded sacrilegious. Now, I don't even know. He has a reasonable chance to become a NBA great in terms of shooting.

He's probably instantly one of the few true PGs in the league.

Re: Isiah Reed Sheppard, #1 pick for 2024
He has looked good, but again it is SL. Almost all the top 15 picks have had some success so it is not like he has been in a league of his own. The biggest thing to me is he has actually been aggressive looking for his shot inside the 3 pt line which was a big issue in college. He and Cam Whitmore are the focus of the team right now, but both of those guys could be playing sub 20 mpg once the season starts due to Houston's depth.

Yes but a number of us had Sheppard #1 on our big boards pre-draft. This isn’t some epiphany for all of us.

1) my post was not directed at Reed specifically, and I had him 4th
2) people already talking about who won/lost the draft this early is absurd
3) summer league games are structureless, glorified scrimmages, some players do well in this type of environment while others don't, and it has no bearing on how they will do during the season
4) we literally have this convos every year

Don’t disagree on any of this, and I get your first point in relation to everything else, but Reed is the guy I’m expecting to surprise everyone and become a legit star and multi-time All Star.
There are others from this draft I think have that sneaky potential as well, but I think it’s very likely he hits said ceiling, summer league is not validation for me, I’m just continuing to beat the Reed drum, which pisses me off to no end because the Rockets drafted him using my team’s pick lol.

it's always been a ceiling game with Reed, and those questions are far from answered, so that's why it's wild seeing people take victory laps after two SL games lol

He could the next Mark Price his ceiling could be MVP Steve Nash
https://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2339728&start=60
I called it before the 2015 draft. I said Booker was going to be a future star while majority said he was too small and too slow and not worth a lottery pick. Before in April, I said I like Reed as much as i liked Devin Booker when he was a freshmen.
I'm not saying Reed will be the next Curry but i do see him on the same tier or impact player as Booker and Nash. That is why I don't know why you would call this a weak draft when you have Reed, Zac, Sar, Knecht, and Cody all in the same class.....

Wouldn't say it was a bad game perse, but Sheppard didn't look great last night.
6/17 for 15 pts, 2 assists, 4 boards, 6 fouls, 4 turnovers, 3 steals.
Detroit guard Dannis Jenkins had 26 mostly guarded by Reed.

3rd game in 4 days for Reed, coming off of barely any practice time to get into game shape. He was fatigued.

Re: Isiah Reed Sheppard, #1 pick for 2024
Reed was also getting doubled in the summer league by the Pistons so there is that.
Rookies will be inconsist and out of shape. Reed is frankly a little pudgey. A year or two in the league will develop his body rapidly.
