Didn't a .500 team from the Big East just win the national championship?

I saw RealMadrid 3 times this yr and they were flat out horrible. No they dont have the talent of Ohio St or a Duke or UNC. Jan Vesely looked like LBJ/Kevin McHale against them. He had 4 blocks and 3 steals in a 5 min stretch that blew them out. They were simply too slow and unathletic to play in a great NCAA conferance like the Big East and Big 10.

I know that Real Madrid and FC Barcelona have had great teams and great players before and maybe they just played like crap but the team that I saw this yr was realy bad. I dont think they could win 10 games if they played Michigan States schedule.

I've seen more than 20 games for Real Madrid this season and I say that their bench players would destroy any NCAA team.

In the NCAA there are many children in big teams that in four years probably will be working in a company or selling cars. Not be professional players.
Not only plays the star of the team, play more players.

Not to mention the diference of experience of professional roster and a NCAA roster.

And I dislike Real Madrid , but you can not compare a TOP10 roster in Europe with a NCAA roster.

You do realize that this season's Barcelona beat the Lakers (albeit it was a preseason game)?

According to you, MSU who has no NBA talent has a chance to beat the Lakers. You know how ridiculous that sounds?

The lack of U.S. coverage of European basketball is really showing on this forum.

He points to superstar (in Europe). He declared Draft eligible this year to try to fall in 2nd round, and negotiate his contract in the future.

He is a very very good shooter, but the need to develop all facets of his game yet.
He has everything to dominate European basketball in the coming years, but we'll see how he develop.

His virtues:

- Good size for his position.
- VERY good shoter.
- Very good free throw shooter.
- Good ball handling.
- He runs the court.
- Outside defense is good.
- Acceptable rebounder.
- High Basketball IQ.

His lacks:

- No Experience in competition.
- Needs to get stronger.
- His inside defense is not very good yet.
- He is reluctant to post.
- Doesn't know to create their own shots.
- He is not a good shoots' blocker.
- Disappears from the game easily.

Most of his lacks will be solved in a couple of years.

I think that at least until 2014/2015, he doesn't go to the NBA.

He was born in Montenegro but he has got a Spanish citizenship.

Mirotic is going to sign an extension that keeps him under contract for the next 5 years with a buyout clause for the NBA around $5 million.

I think it's irrelevant if he's picked in the 1st or the 2nd round: barring CBA changes in this issue, by the time he'll be ready to join the rookie scale won't apply any more (a la Splitter). I'd consider wasting a late 1st on him, even though I maintain is nowhere near ready to be a productive player in the NBA. Maybe he'll get there in the future, we'll need to see how he develops. He has the talent, but no the athleticism, so we'll need to see if he develops his talent in a way that's conductive to be productive n the NBA in spite of his physical limitations.

Jonathon Givony tweeted a few days ago that teams "You couldn't trade a late 1st for a bag of potato chips right now". I don't know if that's true, I mean at the least you'd think an owner with pockets like Dan Gilbert or Marc Cuban would eat those up. But still, if there is any relevance to it, someone could indeed prefer a Mirotic pick with a late 1st just cause they wouldn't have to pay him, but he'd still be an asset to trade or bring over years in the future

I would spend the late 1 st round pick/ 2nd round pick in Mirotic rather than another player in this draft, although you have to wait 4 years to see him on the team.

Most young people love the city, the region is insanely affluent, it's a major market, and it's very international and cosmopolitan. Three of the top six or so prospects have at various points in the pre-draft process stated that they would prefer to play in D.C. (Vesely, Williams and Kanter), draft positioning notwithstanding, so it's a little surprising to see someone take such a divergent position on the subject.

I blame Bush (kidding)

Edit: To be fair to W., I should also include the fact that we've been a below average franchise straddling the terrible line for the better part of a quarter century (in the aggregate), so that might have something to do with his reticence.

^^ maybe he feels that he wouldn't be as good of a fit there? You know, with you guys having McGee and all. Meanwhile the Raps/Pistons/Rockets could certainly use a rebounding/shotblocking/defensive presence like Biyombo for their teams.
