MCW was a horrible athlete and had zero court awareness.

Not really, he has good length, but as far as functional athleticism he's not in the same league as these kids.

Michael Carter Williams has a career offensive rating of 96 points per 100 possessions. He was also a 22 year old rookie who was the benefactor of someone has to do something on this awful team as a rookie for Sixers. God bless Brent Brown.

Add in the fact that Ausar will probably be 20lbs heavier than MCW by the time he is drafted and is a massively better vertical athlete.

MCW had a 41" vertical when drafted.

Yeah, Grayson Allen had a 40.5 inch vertical. Doesn't really always translate to the court. Maybe I am in the minority but I have never seen MCW finish above the rim and thought to myself this dude has dumb bunnys haha

Ausar Thompson might be the closest prospect to Scottie Pippen I can remember.

Scottie Pippen was huge. This can't be a serious comment.

Pippen was 6'7", 210 lbs when he was drafted.

Ausar is 6'7", 207 lbs

If you don't think it's a realistic comp, fine. But you gotta give better reasoning than size.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Pippen had like a 7'3" ws. Ausar's is 6'10". Pippen also had a huge frame. Come on people.

I love that the person who says "whoa hold the brakes on comparing a 20-year old in the OTE to a Top 75 all time player and 6-time champion" is the scrutinized one. Only on RealGM folks. Only on RealGM.

Ausar just turned 20. Pippen didn't have a huge frame when he was a 20 year old college kid.

Ausar gets to benefit from 30 years worth of advancements in supplements, strength training, dieting/nutrition, etc. so his chances are pretty good to have a stronger frame in the coming years..

Pippen's wingspan helped, sure. But wingspan isn't everything. If it was, Scottie Barnes would be an all-star by now and Mark Williams would be the leading candidate for ROY.

And I think (most of us at least) don't take player comps too seriously. They're just supposed to give people a very loose, rough idea of the type of player that prospect could develop into. No one is saying Ausar will be a top 75 player of all time or a 6x champion, lol.

Yes, he did. You know what a frame means right? A frame is genetic. It's what your bone structure is. That doesn't change. AD had a huge frame even as a skinny freshman. Broad shoulders. Someone like Jalen McDaniels or KD have really narrow frames. That has nothing to do with age.

You guys are going to fail at this if you don't recognize obvious physical differences.

Some guys have big frames even when they are skinny. Look at Kevon Looney. Huge frame and was able to put on a lot of muscle over time.

It's like guys in bodybuilding who have good "genetics". That's what people are talking about. It's where you can add muscle naturally.

There's no failing or succeeding. This isn't a competition. We're just talking sports - that's all. Stop taking yourself so seriously. You're not on ESPN, buddy and if you were, you wouldn't be sitting on a message board debating with random people.

1. Go look up Scottie Pippen rookie card at age 22

https://th.bing.com/th?id=OIF.i39QELgEJez27PKo4ALe%2bw&pid=ImgDet&rs=1

Then look at Ausar Thompson at age 20.

Then look at him averaging 16 pts, 7 boards, 6 assists, 2.5 steals and over a block a game.

Scottie career numbers 16 pts, 6.5 boards, 5 assists, 2 steals and just under a block per game.

Similar size, similar athlete, similar impact on the game, similar stats, similar outside shooters young... idk about you but those are the type of things I look at when making a comp.
