Highly questionnable motor... I found it odd that they weren't talked enough about for Sarr prior to the draft unlike Kel'el Ware.

Most people have only watched clips (or just the Ignite games). No matter what they say. I could tell anyone who watched full games by where they had him on their draft board.

Where do you think he should have been drafted/ranked?

I'm also curious about this, because in terms of tool(s) Sarr was clearly one of the top prospects of the draft.

I watched quite a few full games, given I live in Aus.
I had him 10th and Kel’el 11th, which I consider pretty fair. Edey and Clingan the two best centers in the class to me, then it was Sarr and Ware

Who?
jalen brunson averaged 6 points on 22% FGs in his rookie summer league. and that's as as 4 year college guy.
but that is not a defense of Sarr. how on earth does an athletic 7' who was the second overall pick go 0-15 - that has to be unprecedented futility from somebody of his physical profile.

Re: Alex Sarr
I watched the lowlights.
This guy finishes soft and avoids contact on both offense and defense.
He didn't try to finish strong once last game. I get it Clingan owned him on defense but a few of those near rim shots shoud have been strong dunks, above the time style. Instead he tries to finesse his finishes as layups which might be expected given his proclivity toward shooting the 3 ball.

Quite raw on offense. More raw than expected. I know being efficient in the Summer league is not everything, but he seems far away from being a real factor on on offense when you seem him play. Even his defense is softer than expected.

Not just raw on offense but a complete inability to utilize his size and strength.
Reminds me on Andrea Bargnani--but atleast Bargnani was a good shooter [37% 3P / 82% FT] out the gate.
We could be looking at a 7' Anthony Bennett.

Re: Alex Sarr
Through 3 games Sarr is shooting 19% from the field, which is by far the worst among notable rookies.
Next set of offensive underachievers are Clingan, Dillingham and McCain are shooting 27%

Sarr wants to be a perimeter chucking guard.

Sarr is a 19 year old raw kid. He’s got the most tools in the entire draft. It’s silly to write him off after 3 Summer League games that have historically not meant ****.

Re: Alex Sarr
What makes him enticing is his guard like ability but it's kind of impossible to be a guard at 7 foot which is why he isn't adept at using it enough to make it a differentiator.
More importantly he doesn't have the power to finish if he does drive.
And he takes plays off......chance will finish 15-20 on a class rerank and be a middling NBA role guy
But his highlights against Ron Holland were absolutely insane and I know why he was a high pick

Re: Alex Sarr
This was my take on him, but I am/was so low on this draft class that taking a guy with elite physical tools seems like a reasonable bet as the highest-ceiling prospect in the draft. I think Sheppard is going to prove that notion wrong (at least, so far, that is what it looks like) ...
Alexandre Sarr (range: 1-3)
Sarr's mobility and defensive upside are intriguing, but his upside as a #1 caliber prospect, even in this draft, is dependent on your assessment of his shot. I think it is at least a few years away from projecting out to the NBA 3-point line with any reliability, which means he is a mobile and impactful rim protector who is a poor rebounder and lacks physicality. I'm not saying I dislike him, just that he is a project and I am not sure a team in the top-3 should be drafting someone who probably won't pop in his rookie year.
(shades of Jonathan Isaac, Myles Turner, Eddie Griffin)

Re: Alex Sarr
I think it's brilliant how the Wizards are handling this. They know he's a project and that he's got delusions of grandeur right now. So they're like, fine, play how you envision yourself to be. He's playing exactly like he wants and he's learning that he's got a long ways to go. This will allow them to limit him come the regular season and have him stick to a few plays within the offense. He won't be happy but it's the best thing for him. They don't need him to be trying step-back threes and 15 foot turnaround fade aways. As long as he's relegated to open threes, pick n pops, diving as a roll man and transition baskets he'll be fine. His defense will get him minutes and he can continue working on his shot and expanding his offense. imho he's 3 years away from being able to succeed playing how he is trying to play in this SL. But that's okay as that was the case regardless of SL. But if he plays within himself he can be a major contributor Day 1 and make all-rookie team. It's really up to him.
