Measured well, had the fastest 3/4 sprint at the combine.
His athleticism is probably slept on a bit.

You know it is bad when the Anti-Acuff crowd starts saying "oh he is bigger, that is even worse he didn't have steals". Have to keep the narratives alive no matter what.

His shooting numbers are like prime Ray Allen while also being a top end playmaker. Thats a top 3 draft prospect. He SHOULD goto Memphis but they probably select Boozer which is also fine. He's a tier above Peterson and a few tiers about Wilson imo.

I would be super happy if Clips pick him #5 even without moving Garland. No need to overload in his rookie year. Let him know he needs to better be than Garland to cut him. Thats mean playing All star level right out of the gate, or just play&learn defense, show difference to get minutes. Which is a weakness for him atm.
Great question to have :)

I'm not sure if he goes 5 or if the Clippers look for someone a little more combo-guard like Wagler or Flemings, but I think Acuff is the 5th best talent in this draft.

Acuff was my favorite guy to watch but he isn't going to be on the board for my team.

I'll just have to settle for whoever we pick at 1.

If they do that, that means they will have decided to draft for fit, which they absolutely should not be doing with their roster. Darius Garland is a nice player, but you don't not draft Acuff because of him IMO.

Others do like Wagler better, so it is possible for a team to judge Wagler BPA at #5. If that's the case then so be it, I just hope it's not the case.

Personally I’m a bit nervous about the Kings supposed love of Acuff. I like him, but only if he drops because I am not certain his offensive impact will transcend his total lack of interest in defense.

Maybe, but not absolute.

I’d be comfortable with a trade up for Wagler if he drops past the Clips and include a little sweetener for Brooklyn if they don’t go for a big themselves. His size and his defensive ability make him a much better overall fit.

I see bad finishing, poor mid range shooting. He is elite at shooting the 3 from the wings.

And everyone knows about his defensive reputations. I don't see how anyone could justify Acuff over Wagler or Flemings or LaBaron unless you think he is a whole tier high in terms of offensive talent.

And let me put my name on the record. Small guards are not good. And no, Brunson is 'really not that good' and is no where near MVP level.

You like Flemings, Wagler, and Philon?

I honestly think this whole guard class is getting hyped in a weird way. I dont like any of those 3 to be a starter.

I would take Burries in the lottery and Okorie outside of the lottery.

Mikel is interesting as well, not sure about Acuff but would take him over those 3 you mentioned.

Acuff can be an engine but like with all small guards he'd need a perfect surrounding cast to make deep playoff runs so whoever drafts him has to commit to him like the Knicks have for Brunson and the Warriors for Steph. It seems obvious but so many teams lack patience and the fortitude to accept the negatives and decide they're outweighed by the ability to get buckets and lead an offense.
Foes..you DO realize I don't see your posts....right?

That takes time and development.

I think this draft class of guards will be good and it will silence the whole “small guard” discussion for awhile. All these guards are really talented shooters and that is going to make them all valuable.

Small guards who can’t shoot are the issue.

If Acuff is Jamal Murray, Kyrie, Dame, CP3, Brunson, Van Vleet, Schroeder, Garland, Morant, Conley, Maxey, Trae, Keyonte—- are all probably top 10 picks in a redraft.

I think drafting them 5-10 is perfectly fine. It’s different maybe drafting them 1st, 2nd or 3rd overall— I don’t see anyone pushing for that.

Put me down as a hater. Just can't imagine a guy who plays (or rather doesn't play) defense like he does can truly be a winning player no matter how good he is at scoring or passing the ball. You take a swing on him because the offense is exceptional and the physical tools are there to play defense, but you basically never see guys go from being clueless and not trying on that end to becoming even okay defenders. That sort of want-to is baked into guys.
