Even if Wiggins is "only" as good as say John Wall but still short of Lebron or Durant, he still goes #1 and is still a max player after his rookie contract. That's still a helluva player for a rebuilding team like the Sixers.

Drummond slipped. But he wasn't ever projected as the #1 prospect, was he? I thought Davis had that on lock all along.
This draft is stacked with elite prospects. You can't just completely ignore what your eyes are telling you because the kid's past reputation was off the charts.

Yes it is a such thing......................
Lebron James
John Wall
Greg Oden
And Wiggins hype is higher than Wall and Oden and is almost on par with Lebron James.

No aura? Well hells bells. This Wiggins fellow sounds like a total bust.
How about his chi? Does he have a high chakra level? What's his midichlorian count? How many energy meridians does he have? What's his thetan level?

Sounds like the same criticisms people had about Andre Drummond after his year at uconn.

Yep, and in about 3-4 years they're going to be turning in their grave for passing him up, Drummond is going to be a MONSTER very very soon.

He may be an athletic freak but what if he can't shoot (well enough). Why would you draft such a player that is so limited?
Even the so called scrub players currently in the NBA make jumpers, know when to shoot, during practice or have a better shooting form/stroke/release.

And needs more aura.
aura = presence?
idk
some guys greatly impact the game just by being on the floor. the ball finds them. they tend to be around the ball when a stop or deflection is made. the defense naturally gravitates towards them. teammates feed off of their energy and ability to make plays. maybe from that scouts' POV, wiggins didn't have that kind of effect that day.

He was projected number 1 going into UCONN, it was big "sweepstakes" of where he went just like Wiggins. Anthony Davis was pegged at number 2 and didn't rise until the season started.

I'm not butthurt. I think he's overrated.
Make that 2.
Not all Canadian people are jaded into thinking Wiggins is some next LeBron and in fact that comment is borderline trolling because if you went into the Raptor forum a lot posters DO realize that he's not some generational talent but of course want him to be successful.
I have been saying (as many others have too) that he's far more Paul George than LeBron and that whole hype was created by American media lol.
OT No kid can be a lock until draft day lol...he hasn't played a single game so who knows but really we can already Randle is a major threat to take that over and I dunno why people sleep on Jabari but I think he's gonna have a "Kyrie-effect" where a guy like Barnes and Knight received a lot of hype going in but he's just flat out a better, more skilled player. Won't surprise me if all the people that were claiming Parker is too big, slow etc are the same ones eating crow and singing his praises the loudest come draft time.

If he ends up being a bust that would be a great lesson learned when it comes to hyping kids up when they're just in HS. All those $150 million endorsement rumors and he ends up being just an average player.

Re: Andrew Wiggins is not a lock at #1?
It's less about Wiggins "not trying" hard enough or "coasting". It's more about his actual skillset. Can he pass, create for others? How's his court vision and handle? I think he'll still be in the top 3 when all is said and done, but will he ever live up to the hype? He may end up as a really good player like Vince Carter and still not live up to the hype. People are saying he's the biggest thing since LeBron. I just don't see how Wiggins can live up to that.

Lebron James looked like Darius Miles to me, the first time I saw him and even great players have days when they just can't hit a shot. Wiggins' shooting form is pretty good and he's fundamentally sound, its not like we are talking about Demar Derozan coming out of high school.

Why would anyone judge whether he can or can't shoot based off of practice instead of actual games? During practice Dwight is an 80% FT shooter - in games, not so much.

These same criticisms have also been made towards Harrison Barnes, Quincy Miller, Perry Jones, Rudy Gay, OJ Mayo, BJ Mullens, Brandan Wright and other super hyped high school prospects that have either underwhelmed in the NBA or have been just terrible.

Why does everyone get in an uproar when a prospect is judged off a practice but not when they are judged by meaningless glorified streetball high school and AAU games? Seriously, when you watch a high school mixtape and its 10 wide open dunks for every 1 skill move/jumpshot jumpshot you shouldn't be surprised to hear stuff like this.

He'll never have the Feng Sui to run the triangle.
