He just looks like he has it. I don't get it. NBADraft.net has him at 24th in 2016. That is terrible.

yeah, for example Kendall Marshall making it in the NBA

Tyus Jones

He's going to be a good pro. I think he's more athletic than the scouts are giving him credit for. He's also a better scorer than he's shown so far at duke, but when he gets it going it's pretty effortlessly and makes you think he could have done it at anytime. I think his draft stock will rise by the end of March madness. If he proves that he's a better athlete than advertised he should be a lock as a top10 pick.

Apple Valley, didn't you follow him in high school?

As a Duke fan I don't think that he should declare this year. He'd really benefit from spending an extra year in Durham adding weight/strength and improving his overall game but especially defensively. There is absolutely no way that he is going to be able to defend NBA point guards right now.

he stands entirely too upright on defense he doesn't get low enough to stay in front of anyone which is terribly frustrating considering his quick hands. What really upset me yesterday was when it looked like they had a shot at coming back yesterday you saw him dig in a little more and get a little lower which means he can do it when he wants to. Gotta be more effort put into that.

He's my favourite college BB player right now, but I just don't think a lot of his skill are going to translate well in NBA...

I don't like Mike Conley's comparison first. He's always been a great leaper to overcome his physical limitations, Tyus isn't at all.
He's a great basketball mind and he does all the things I want my PG to do, but I fear that with that body he will struggle badly to finish and won't be able to defend a lick at the next level.

I kinda get an older Tony Parker vibe (when Parker started to pass more). Perhaps not as quick, but still quick relative to other PGs due to his lack of size. What do you guys think?

I agree that someone like Mike Conley looks more athletic than Jones.

Kendall Marshall literally can't even play defense against college guards. His defense is as bad as 40 year old Nash. His vision is prolific, but he is literally one of the slowest, most nonathletic guy you can find in the league.

Jones is at worst an below average athlete. He can become a serviceable defender. He is very quick on offense.

That's interesting one, IMO. Not quite as slithery quick but I like it as a general category.

not sure who else is coming in along with Jeter next season but another year there where Ty can be more of the focal point should give him a chance to show more of his get buckets game. He plays back a little right now with the understanding that its Jah's team and what is created from his touches is how the offense goes. Jeter isn't as block dominant and Ty may have a better shot at showing more scoring next year.

I disagree, Jones needs to bail this year. He can end up on a mid/late lotto to a bad playoff team. That is a much better place than getting stuck on a Eastern conference lotto team for the next half a decade assuming that he improves and goes top 10 next year.

Beside, this year's PG stock is extremely weak. There only 3 PG (not including Jones) mocked in the first round.

He should go if he is projected as a 1st, and he will.
He will be perfect on the Bucks for example, and they will have a midfirst.

He looks very weak but has great instincts and mentally tough. Definitely and 2 and done guy.

dont think the UNC game was the one to follow up with talk about how weak tyus looks. he made multiple plays down the stretch of the 2nd half and in OT to keep duke in the game and eventually close the margin (scored their final 9 points in regulation). he had like 3 or 4 plays where he took it to a defender's chest and finished through contact. some of those plays highlighted here:

He killed us, such a good decision maker, is crazy how smart he plays, if he goes someone is grabbing him in the top20 for sure, and If I'm Indiana and he is there, I take him and run.

I didn't mean soft. Just physically I don't like his frame atm.

i knew what you meant, which is why i mentioned that he's coming off a game where he showed instances of making plays through contact.
