Watched the entire exhibition against Wayne St. Was impressed with his ability to rise and fire on a dime....also active moving without the ball. Crossover reminds me a bit of Jamal Crawford....and I was very impressed with his release from the perimeter. As you can see from the clip, he scored coming off that screen - I also recall him crossing someone up from further out than the FT line. Impressive showing....he has a super quick release, he plays within himself and finds open teammates, and has good elevation on his stroke. Good looking prospect.

I'm pretty confident he'll be either in or near the top 5 by the time of the draft.

he looked like a darkhorse lotto pick last year IMO. with new strides in his game, added size on his frame, a featured role on this team coming off of looking like the feature at times last year, and his versatile skillset i think the only thing keeping him out of that top 5 argument right now if anything is some of the specimens and freaks in this years' class. But i like LeVert quite a deal more than some of the kids touted over him.

Have to agree with you there, and while there's a lot of big physical players in next year's class, there is quite the lack of guards/perimeter creators at the top too, that could help him quite a bit.

Caris had 20 pts (4 threes) 8 reb 9 ast 1 stl 1 blk today and did whatever he wanted, albeit against inferior competition.

His court vision and passing looks even better than last year and his in between game was working. The biggest thing I am looking for this season is his ability to draw fouls and finish through contact, instead of weak floaters.

Anticipate his match-ups with D'Angelo Russell and James Blackmon Jr.

As a Sixers fan he's on my radar. I have yet to really lock in on him. I know he has a chance to be a top 5 pick. Can you tell me how good his handles are? Is he better than Stauskas was last year? Is he good on defense? Do you know where I can get highlights of today's game of him? And he is a shooting guard and not a point right?

His handle is very good as he can change directions on the dime, has a solid cross over, hesitations and behind the back moves. He has a 7'1'' wingspan so he can be pretty disruptive off-ball defender but last year he was often bullied on-ball due to lack of mass/strength but has added 15 lbs or so. I do think he has the ability to be a plus defender.

He isn't as good a shooter as Stauskas and maybe PnR player but he isn't far behind in those areas. He is more athletic, longer, a better defender, rebounder and imo a more versatile passer (drive and dish, transition). It remains to be seen if he can be as efficient as Nik was last year but I think he has a brighter future at the pro level.

As a comparison who would you say is the better prospect? Stauskas last year or Levert this year? I'm just needing a baseline to know how good he is. Sixers will pick in the top 5. Stauskas went 8th. Do you see this guy going higher than Stauskas did? I know you said you think Levert will have a brighter future so you are also saying he will go higher in the draft?

I'm not sure. Like a few have said in this thread, a lot of young freaky athletic physical specimens that could declare or stay i.e. Kelly Oubre. I have him anywhere from 5-14 but it depends on these freshmen and euros. Okafor, Towns, Porzingis, Mudiay are my top 4 locks.

And I think LeVert is a better prospect than Stauskas.

Definitely see Caris as a lottery pick this year. He is very young for a junior, more the age of a sophomore. I wouldn't be overly shocked if he put up numbers similar to Evan Turner's junior year. Has that all around game, and definitely a far better shooter than Evan was which bodes better for his pro prospects. He does have a somewhat flat shot however, so it will be interesting to see how that translates to the deeper 3 point arc. You don't see him taking many shots far behind the 3 point line like Burke or Stauskas would.

The bottom line with Levert is that he has triple threat skills, and that's one of, if not the most important thing in gauging a prospect.

True. It is hard to come up with something he can't do atleast "well". It is hard to envision him failing. Not really any red flags around him in any category. Only thing I can see scouts knocking him for is that he is slight, but having guard skills, length and being 6'7" that shouldn't weigh too heavily. He also is pretty mentally tough and has zero attitude concerns.

I think my comparison for him in both his game plus draft spot is Eddie Jones (10th in the 1994 draft). I don't think LaVert is going to be a good #1/#2 option at the next level but if he falls a bit and ends up on a decent team at the back end of the lottery, I think he'll exceed expectations and be a very good pro.

The obvious hope for all the prospects is that the Thunder stay down and then get drafted to be in OKC, but realistically, if LaVert ended up on say an Indiana, that could be a good spot for him long term.

He kind of has a unique game that is hard to compare to any one specific player. Definitely doesn't have the verticality of Eddie Jones. Has a herky jerky style, doesn't have great elevation on his set shot, has a flat shot - however, he is very consistent with his shot from all different areas behind the arc. I can see where you are going with Christie in that they have similar body types, some point guard skills, unselfish, and are good shooters. Don't know if Caris will ever get to Doug's defensive ability, but I do think he can be good there. He is going to be a good overall player and a good fit beside a scoring point guard.

When he got to Ann Arbor his teammates called him Mini Durant. Some people also compare his skill set to Jamaal Crawfords, but definitely isn't as adamant in terms of getting his shot up.

game of the year so far from what i've seen. so much back forth, game swings and clutch play

what do you think of the doug christie comparison reanimator?

it's good to see dx finally seeing the light on levert. it takes them a while to come around on players who weren't highly rated previously.
