Re: NBA Draft 2018 II
Matur's mechanics seem similar to Thon's, straight/in-line but kind of loose and not fluid. I don't trust it. Also not a great athlete it seems to me, just really long.
Comparing Sudanese-Australian forwards, I would probably take Deng Adel over him even though he's 2 years older (that being said, both probably go undrafted). Deng looks to have a better body type, more coordinated with a better handle and jumpshot, better passing, etc.
I think Adel has a lot of potential as a 3/D guy but from what I've seen lacks a bit of bball IQ/awareness, as well as an inability to bring his 3 ball to the considerably above average efficiency it probably needs to be, in order to fill that role at an NBA level. But athleticism + tools are there.

Combine invites sent out today. It’s a lot less likely a player gets drafted if they aren’t invited.

What's the total number or what percentage get an invite?

I don’t remember but It’s some insane amount. Like 90%. Because it’s players that teams are altogether interested. There are only 60 spots to get drafted and like 60 spots in the combine, but 15 of those are going to be replaced when the top 20 picks don’t want to participate and when there are injuries keeping players out of it. I think last year there were like 70 something players in the combine. Guys like Davon Reed, Damyean Dotson and Kyle Kuzma that no one had on their board were invited to the combine and all got drafted.

Re: NBA Draft 2018 II
So Ive been going back and watching a lot video of these guys and unless something drastic changes, this will probably be my final big board for this draft.
1. Bagley
2. Bamba
3. Ayton
4. MPJ
5. Carter
6. JJJ
7. Mikal
8. Robert Williams
9. Knox
10. Trevon Duval
I expect my top 10 is going to be drastically different then everyone else's. I'll break down a few things that I think people will have the most questions on. Bagley has been my #1 all year and the combo of size/athleticism/motor/skill foundation is just too hard for me to pass up. Bamba and Ayton are a toss up for me but Im settling on Bamba as my #2. Definitely some recency bias with how Gobert has looked in these playoffs, but ya Bamba over Ayton. Ayton has the highest ceiling in my opinion that motor is still worrisome to me.
Carter over JJJ was very close as well. But the more I watched JJJ the more I began to question his functional athleticism. Offensively I think hes going to never be a guy that creates his own shot and I think hes going to be a really good shot blocker, but not a great overall defender. With that said still high on him at 6, so its not like I think hes going to be junk.
My last 3 probably are a surprise for how high they are. I got them this high because of their potential. I flat out love Williams size, athleticism and ability to rebound and defend. Dont think hes ever going to be all that much offensively, but I think he can be that ultimate glue guy. Knox I think he has very functional athleticism, I like the form on his jumper and I think he has the chance to be more than just a 3&D guy, with a great chance to at minimum becoming a 3&D guy. Duval is probably my biggest reach, I thought he was misused at Duke. He is phenomenal running the PnR and rarely got the chance to run it at Duke. His size/handle/athleticism is all top notch, I also think hes going to be a stud defender as well. I dont think he ever becomes a knock down shooter, but Ive been following his progression as a shooter for a few years now and I really love his progression. The 2nd half of the season he shot 37% from 3 on 3 attempts a game. I think in a few years that jumper will be at least serviceable and with the space and pace of the NBA, I think its really going to open up his game.
Edit: forgot to mention this is just the guys from college

Jerome Robinson from BU is entering with an agent. Apparently a lot of teams have him as a late first rounder.

Haven't seen him at all. Stats say he's a 2guard with decent 3pt shooting? Have you seen any of him this year?

Duval over Trae Young and Collin Sexton? I couldn't have been watching the same guy at Duke because I don't see it. He looks very unskilled as a point guard, measurables be damned.

Why do you have Bamba as high as you do? Is it because you think he'll become Gobert-lite? I think he would go 3rd in a 2013 redraft, but that draft was pretty bad.
I'm just not a fan of where he is right now offensively. Doesn't have a post-game. Has stone hands. Doesn't have good touch at the rim, although I would say it's decent. He just doesn't have much going for him offensively. He supposedly had a 3pt shot, but his mechanics were a mess at Texas. I do he'll be a very good PnR player...but aside from that, he's going to be a very big project on offense. I do think he has legitimate potential to be a 3&D C which is crazy, but he needs a lot of work before he can get there. I also question his overall feel for the game. He has very good shotblocking extincts, but that's about it.

Yeah, he’s good. He can shoot off the dribble or off of screens, but he had to do a lot for his team. He has good size for a shooting guard at 6’7 and he’s not a great defender, but he has the quickness for it. He has a pretty solid handle for a wing and is a solid passer. Also really athletic and has potential on that end. He can be streaky, but he has good upside. I don’t see him as an all-star type at all, but I think best case scenario he’s a good starter.

I honestly don't care about his offense. He will be a great roll big man and that is good enough for me. I actually think his defensive potential is higher than Gobert. He moves much better laterally than Gobert and I think he will be a better defender on the PnR and out in space.
I think Bamba's floor is really high and if he ever does get a jumper then that would just be a huge cherry on top. With that said, I've been a huge fan of Bamba's for 2+ years now.
