His IQ and touch seem pretty good, but from what I have seen his athleticism looks to be below average. I am no where near a top 20 but I would say from first glances feels like a guy that could settle around 15-25 for me.

They're not the same (Sorber is way better). But whenever I watch highlights he resembles Ed Davis lol

I'm just going to keep bumping this thread until Gary Oldman GIF EVERYONE recognizes what is happening here.

How are people so damn slow to catch on? Way too many casuals just anchoring to Givony and not using their own brain cells or eyes.

Pretty sure I was able to confirm his birthday is December 25, but couldn't find the year. I assume its 2005?

USA Today latest mock has him 12. Vecenie had him 17 recently. Wonder when Givony adds him.

Thomas Sorber or Derik Queen? Who you guys like better? I hope they both succeed. I miss old school big men.

Sorber for me. He’s a year younger, more skilled and stronger. Queen has some athletic advantage but not enough to make up for the other areas imo.

Looks like Georgetown is about 45pts / 100p better with Sorber than without overall. 15 on offense, 30 on defense. Better in almost every way except own turnovers and 3pt rate. SOS with and without is barely different.

Against top 60 opponents his apparent defensive on / off impact expands but the offense impact shifts to slightly negative.

Sorber is a force defensively in the paint and obviously I like his feel for the game. What concerns me most is that he seems to strictly be a paint player on both ends with the occasional pop on offense. That limits him and that's something Queen has over him (the ability to attack off the dribble and step out to defend on the perimeter on switches).

I love this guy, I think I he plays way bigger than his numbers. Good combo of really strong base with mobility.

Anyone else see a ton of Al Horford in his game?

I'm thoroughly impressed with his defense and fundamentals. He's the best defensive big man in the draft, and if I'm a team who misses out on the top 5, he's someone I'm looking very hard at.

Yup. I think Horford was a better athlete back in the day but lots of similarities otherwise. Although in Sorber's favor I think is he likes to bang more than Horfofd did. Sorber is very physical.

That kind of wingspan seems like it would be a big deal for his draft stock. His height and athleticism both look kind of meh to me. I feel like that kind of length should really help his game translate to the NBA.

I listened to Sam Vecenie mock draft podcast which came out yesterday and they had a debate abut this. No real consensus except the obvious Sorber > Queen on defense and vice versa on offense.

Prob under rating Horford’s physicality here imo.

What I see a lot is people look at a young big who could shoot and block a few shots and suddenly he’s the next Horford, and miss Horford’s ability to control space on the defensive end.

Horford isn’t missing physicality he’s great there he just doesn’t have great length or leaping ability.
