Re: Potential sleepers
I just don't see a market for a 40 something percent foul shooting pg. He's gotta get that worked out in his mind. You can't win hs 3pt contests in hs to being left wide open either.

Re: Potential sleepers
One longtime executive, who asked that his name not be used because his team has not been eliminated from the playoffs, characterized the draft quality as good but not great.
“I would give this draft a B,” he said. “There are a couple guys who could be really, really good. And it’s interesting because in today’s NBA it’s so much about projection. The first five picks seem pretty sure-fire guys, then you get seven, 16, 22. Are they going to be solid or are you going for the home run? And if you go for the home run there is always the possibility of a strikeout.”

Perfect from FT last night (3/3). I think led us in rebounds and completely shut down his man on defense. Constantly created for himself. Threw the best pass of the night to Ulis which got pinned on the backboard. If we can beat IU, he might be gone.

He reminds me of Demarre Carroll......maybe it's the hair, but the 3 and D. tag should be his calling card moving forward.

Re: Potential sleepers
To me this draft is strong around late first into the second round. There are some solid guys in the range currently.

The reason he reminds me of Butler is because I think he moves a lot more like Butler than Carroll. I think a lot of people are saying Carroll for his look, but the aggressiveness he defends is a lot like Butler and he's able to get in the lane and dive for balls like Butler. I don't think Carroll goes at the ball like that (although he IS a great defender). I also think his athleticism is similar to Butler where his vertical is pretty underrated. He has the same kind of motion with his shot with the same speed and shoots off the dribble like Butler. He also lowers his shoulders and attacks the basket like Butler and has a little bit of post game. The way he attacks offensive boards is again like Butler. I see a lot of Butler in him likely due to his aggressiveness on offense and I don't see that aggressiveness in Carroll. I also think Carroll isn't really an attacker and only takes his opportunities. I think Prince will be able to do more than that. The way he controlled the game on both ends of the floor the other night in the second half convinced me he's going to be a very good NBA player.

Re: Potential sleepers
Almost certainly not gonna come out this year, but watching the Hawaii v. California game, Stefan Jankovic of Hawaii looks like a definite sleeper. Second time I'm watching him this season.

It is baffling to me that Ivan Rabb is not a lock for everybody to go at least top7

My issues with Rabb are that he doesn't have anything that stands out. He's mature for his age, but I'm also not sure about his frame. And what team needs a post power forward? I in no way think he's a star and my lottery has to be filled with guys who are or can become stars. Or at least be effective enough to be a 6th man. I'm also not sold about his athleticism.

He has the length to play C easily, he needs to fill out but still, smart, can post, run and finish, sees the floor, ambidextrous, can shoot it reversing in the post, he will get a face-up game too...
There are no 6 better prospects than him in this class.

He finishes through contact too and he's only 19... I don't know. 6'10 with 7'2 wingspan is good but not great for a starting center. His shoulders are also pretty narrow. He has nice post skills and can pass out of it, but I still see nothing that stands out. I really don't think he's a center and plays under the rim. The question is if you believe in his potential or not and doing that is believing in his development, his athleticism and his potential shot. He has skill and can beat second unit guys one on one, but starters would have their way with him physically, with size and athleticism. I guess I just don't trust his smarts, otherwise he would have had better numbers at this level. But he could probably draw a lot of fouls. **** it, I just sold myself on him. I guess I haven't watched tape of him in a while and forgot what he could do.

Re: Potential sleepers
Man, Aaron Gordon is playing C nowadays, if he can defend the pikc&roll and rebound the ball, both things are strengths of his, he can.
He needs weight for sure, therefore the frame is an issue, but he has the size to play C 100%
You dont trust his smarts? he plays in a team full of knuckleheads, seriously go watch a game, the stats anyway are impressive for a 18yo big.
Rabb is a top6-7 prospect 100%, he is firmly at 5 in my board.

Yeah, I wasn't really taking things into account, but I'm watching him as were writing and thinking, "what am I thinking?" I've been into other prospects and haven't really been paying attention as he has been dropping on my boards. Now I have him at 4 because I don't think there are many deserving of that spot and Celtics could use another guy that can create scoring opportunities. They like those diverse lineups anyhow. Aaron Gordon is super strong though. He's the definition of a gym guy.

Re: Potential sleepers
I'm with Fish on Rabb. Makes smart passes as well. He was the calming force out there, while Brown shrunk into playing bad basketball and making poor decisions.
Both Rabb and Brown should stay in school, but Rabb is the better player, and most likely will be down the road.

Thomas Walkup. Hadn't heard about him till the game tonight and looked up his stats. He looks like a douche, but he's actually a good player.

Maybe the ultimate sleeper is the guy right in front of our eyes that Nobody wants to talk about. Grayson Allen.

I'm not sure I'm sold on either but can someone explain why I should like Murray so much more than Grayson?

Thomas Bryant is going to be a top 5 pick. He's the youngest guy in the class, has 7'6 wingspan, has improved as a defender, great percentage around the rim, makes free throws, can stretch the ball, can dribble the ball, etc. He has a lot of potential.
