Why isn’t he getting the ball though? He’s almost 7 feet tall with a 7’4 wingspan and he’s really mobile. Why wasn’t he getting the ball from rebounds? I’ll tell you why, he was bothered by the length of Syracuse and their physicality going after rebounds. The reality is that his lack of athleticism was outplayed by athletic guys with length, which is what the NBA will be like every game. I know a lot of people want to blame his games of bad rebounding on Jackson shooting threes and he’s behind the three point line, but that’s bull. He doesn’t stand by the three point line most of the game. He’s just not a good rebounder.

He had 8 rebounds in 15 minutes.

Its not about current production its about projection. He could be Hilton Armstrong. But he's seems very Tyson Chandler-ish to me.. with a chance to add a jumpshot that Tyson never had.

More agile Tyson Chandler with a 3pt shot?

Thats a DPOY candidate year in and out... whilst being coveted offensively.

I think a young Tyson Chandler was more agile than JJJ.

Tyson Chandler had insane vertical leap also. He was just injured all the time early in his career.

I don't like this kid when I watched him play. Seems like another guy in love with being a stretch big. He does have good production for a freshman. I would not pick him top 5. Also he played 21.8 minutes per game. Did we really see enough of him.

He's going to be one of those high paid big men because of how versatile he can be on the floor. Once he adds weight and fixes the fouling. Your looking at a force around the rim , that can space the floor and defend multiple positions + reliable free throw shooter.

Dont sleep on him

Don't think anyone is sleeping. Many people out there, despicably analytics mocks have him at #2.

Ekpo Udoh who spaces the floor feels like his 30-40th percentile outcome, which is why he should go very high in this draft.

A rim protector who can stretch the defense.. Ibaka pretty much... but with a more intriguing ceiling as he has very good defensive IQ all around.

I still see Anthony Davis when he goes for Dunks though and when he blocks shooters at the perimeter, without the offensive IQ or dribbling.

I think something in between ibaka and brow makes sense.

as we poke holes in his game, we should remember he might be the youngest player in the draft. younger than even a guy like anfernee simons. we're talking about a guy who has ton of room for improvement - even athletically.

That's a HOF ceiling.

How many guys in this draft legitimately have the same? Maybe 3 or 4 if we're being generous. That's why there's no way JJJ is dropping out of the top 5, and why someone might snap him up in the top 3 even with a less than stellar tourney run.

I think the analytical impact of Gobert and Roberson will elevate JJJ, Bamba and Mikal.

The first two are going to be drafted in the top half of the lottery despite averaging around 10 points per game, so it’s already happening.

It'll come to knowledge and IQ of the game.

Which is critical to all young players. But Jackson's defensive IQ is execellent for an 18 year old so his likely floor is someone like an older Robert Horry

He's a blank slate. Coachable. Moves well. Seems positive. Good length, good form on his shot. He's top 5 and likely top 3 imo.

See the Ibaka comp a lot, but JJJ looks like he can actually pass the ball a bit. That's quietly one of the biggest weaknesses in Ibaka's game (other than the premature athletic decline).

I'm torn about him. On one hand he's the perfect modern big, on paper. On the other hand I don't see great athleticism. He's not very quick twitch as far as I can tell.
