So basically you think he could average close to a triple double on almost 20ppg right now. While being able to guard defensively 1-4?

watch this clip. this is a 6ft10 pg playing here. he doesnt need a pick to get to the rim.
he can guard pf-s or pg-s. he has as good of a vision as doncic does. he only needs a long range shot and for him the sky is the limit for real. he is the fastest guy on the court.

he has the tools to be named with lebron & magic in the same sentance when is said and done.
and if you dont see the things doncic is lacking and that will prevent him from reaching lebron ˛magic levels, i cant help you.

and no, he wont become the most athletic player in the league by focusing if he puts his mind to it, like one of the guys here sugested. :)

to make it clear again: doncic can dedicate his whole life to optimizing his athletic ability, but he wont be able to do the things that zion williams does physicaly if you woke him up at 2 in the mourning and told him to dunk a few.

but on the other side zion williams can make huge steps in his game if he learns the game, gets a jumper. those gains can be huge, comparing that to doncic lets say 5 cm gain in vertical leap! if he cant, he is of course a huge bust (not the first time it would happen)

if you understand what i mean. :) if not, watch the simmons clip again :)

The "probably" is obviously too strong, but otherwise, how would we know? I fully expect Doncic to get close to these numbers in his rookie year, heck, that's why he is in the discussion for going Nr.1. They are different players, but both has HOF potential.

Love Simmons, I think he is awesome, but he is nowhere near to Lebron as an athlete, so to surpass him, I would say he definitely needs a good jumpshot. If he develops that, sky is the limit. Maybe even now, but I think In order to become a true MVP candidate down the road, he will need that jumpshot. I think Giannis is the only one who doesn't need a jumpshot to be truly great, but he is like the exception to every rule there is.

Also, there is definitely a cap on "learning the game", "getting a jumpshot". If you don't know the game by 21, you will never be Magic Johnson or Lebron (talking about Zion now), and if you can't shoot at a young age, you will pretty much never become an elite shooter. You can become good, I guess, but greatness in that area is already off the table, similarly to Doncic when it comes to his athleticism.

simmons is pretty way up in the athletic department, considering he is 2 inches taller then lebron i would somehow rank him in that elite class anyway.

as far as the learning the game cap goes. there shure is a cap on the learning curve, but the room for improvement athletic ability vs skills, shot, etc.) is far greater on the skill side. thatswhy there a so many gambles/bust/rewards in the draft process.

the more, when we are talking about unlocked skills. meaning zion williamson doesnt need to shoot 3 jumpers per game, because he can get to the rack and flush it down on every single possesion. wich means, we dont know if he has a shot (so to speak).
but we do know that doncic uses every drop of his athletic ability to compete at the higher level wich is the euroleague.

because of those facts (skills vs potential), there will always be debates like zion vs doncic, wich seem crazy considering doncic leads the euroleague in scoring and zion williamson at the moment would not average 15 points in the slovenian league, once teams would see he drives to the rack only.

Out of all rookies, he reminds me of Jayson Tatum the most. Not saying they are very alike, but I think they both have very similar bodies and move very similarly. Doncic is obviously a better playmaker, way tighter handle as well, where Tatum is probably a better spot up shooter as it is now. Both play the right way.

That is on the path of D.Rose if he keeps on comming down that hard. A knee injury at the age of 16 doesnt bode well for the future of an athlete.
Its amazes me that people think if a player can dunk well he will automatically have a successful career in NBA, cause thats clearly happening in the case on Zion Williamson.

yeah the dunks and explosion is impressive and all but I'm holding judgment until I get a chance to sit down and watch him play on a more level playing field. I haven't been able to discern anything from his internet clips over than the kid is huge compared to his comp and should not be able to move like he does for his size. I know next to nothing else about him.

anywho Luke is tearing it up at Real?

Not the biggest Zion fan but this undersells him. Not only does he have elite quick twitch athleticism but he couples that with a plus handle and physicality that will translate at ANY level.

How about this comparison for Doncic.. .. a 6’8 James Harden.
