Prince was a much more impactful player than OPJ. Career VORP of 18 (16.8 by his age 30/9th season) vs. career VORP of 12.5 (10 seasons, but more like 8.5).

I liked OPJ, too. Prince was a really good connective piece and defender, though, super disruptive at his size. I think OPJ was a more impactful scorer and that is about it!

OPJ was just reaching his prime and was one of the best 3 and D players in the game and then injuries derailed his career. He was putting up 18-6-3 and was one of the best 3 pt shooters in the league at 49% on 5 attempts per game after being traded to the Bulls before subsequently getting injured. He was a max player. Without the injury he would probably have had a higher and more competitive VORP to Prince. They're very similar players tbh. Prince got some more love from the media due to being on those very well-constructed Pistons teams.

It was 18/6/3 in a 14 games sample and his per36 stats were the same - he just played a few more minutes. I fully agree that there was more career value to be had from OPJ and MAYBE if he had taken a step in his game he would have been as/more impactful as Prince, I'm just disagreeing w/the idea that out of Prince/OPJ that OPJ is a high end outcome.

For how he turned out, Otto Porter was a highly paid disappointment. Then again, getting drafted by Washington is purgatory.

How do people rate these 3 prospects in general and against each other:
- Karaban
- Scheierman
- Sandfort

I like Karaban the best since he can play the 4 and his movement off the ball is elite, think he'll be able to help an offense the most if in the right situation. Then Scheierman's ability to actually handle and rebound, although he's probably easier to fit than Karaban. Then Sandfort is at the bottom.

OG is in position to replicate OPJ.

I have a feeling Spurs are going to take Salaun if he's there at 8. I just feel like they're definitely taking a Frenchie with one of their two picks, assuming neither of them are traded

Higher ceiling but less of a safe bet than Risacher. Also more of a 4/3, eventually I think.

He's more raw, though, so while we may like his upside, we surely will draft / acquire at least one player who is ready to plug and play.

It's not a secret 1 and 3 are needs. Can't see us using raw rookies as starters for both.

I actually really like Castle for us there and feel lucky if we get him. Look at all the remaining PO teams and but for Hali they're all chunky big two way guards. It's important for POA, for switch ability, for durability, and for running a team. Castle can do all that, is a winner, and can score for himself. We get a lot of bang there and hope the shooting comes along. He has good form already. But it's also where Dilly comes along. Pure heat which could torch defenses on the O end. It's a fine draft for us if we get them both, let them battle it out, use a plethora of guards and some contracts as trade bait to address starting SF - Avdija? Bridges?

This may be a favourable scenario than having two rookies at both 1 and 3.

I'd be pleasantly surprised if Houston passes on a guard though. FVV isn't old yet but he's right now and they don't have the overlap player for the future yet. Either Castle or Dilly could go here.

Fingers crossed we end up with Castle. And then a certified scorer which is what we have in this mock.

And we have 4 picks in next year's draft...

Bruce Bowen shot 69% from FT in college and an even worse 57% in the NBA but shot ~40% from three over his career. Obviously an exception to the rule but it's not entirely unheard of. Always did bug me how he could hit threes at that clip but couldn't shoot FTs to save his life

This draft class is severally underwhelming. Edey is my #1 and I think he's a 6th man for the most part. Risacher is #2 and I see zero all star upside. Kolek is in my top 10. Knecht in my top 5.

There isn't one OAD outside of Risacher that doesn't have decent bust potential. Then you got guys like Sarr with astronomical bust potential.

Edey - Jalen Brunson/IT0, obviously not direct but i see similar roles in regards to how they are used.

7. Sheppard- I love his upside but floor has to be higher. I see Mark Price with Caruso shades if he hits.

7. Sarr - his defense is legit and special. His offense is bad. I think Anthony Randolph, Marquese Chriss, and Jon Bender were all better offensive players and they all busted.

7. Collier - Shades of Baron Davis

7. Dillingham- Brandon Jennings with more height. Probably the only starter in this class outside of Risacher in the ideal situation, day 1.

I like some of your comps, like the Dan Majerle comp for Knecht. I see some Mark Price in Sheppard too. I'm just wondering what happens when long, athletic defenders trap him.

I see Sarr as a longer version of Derrick Favors. He should be a starter who can score in some face-up situations.

I do think Nikola Topic and Cody Williams have a chance to be impact players and even have some All Star potential.

I think Clingan is, for all intents and purposes, the Jakob Poeltl of this draft. I have a hard time seeing him as a top 5 guy.

I like.

Favors had clear offensive limitations as a prospect but I always brought his size offensively as a part of his strength. He also was tough and mentally came to play and wasn't scared of contact at all. Sarr gives me Chriss vibes. Big wing offensively but struggles to create for himself but doesn't even have the shooting or the explosiveness of Chriss. That said, Sarr is world's better as a defensive talent than Chriss was.

What's your take on Topic and Williams? Are you worried about health for Topic?

I just see a massive size difference and that really helps Clingan on D. Also, Clingan screens are probably in the same tier with Sabonis and Gobert and only behind Edey in my eyes. Jakob is very good but man, Clingan is world class at it and screening is critical to me for Centers since offensive 1s are en vogue.

Whatever causes people to say that about a prospect is a negative. It usually turns out that player is a disappointment. Players that are the "safest" prospect in the draft or have the "highest floor," usually fail from what I have observed. This applies to the NFL draft as well. Shelden Williams was one of those guys in the NBA draft and Aaron Curry was one of those guys in the NFL draft.

The more I watch Risacher, the more i see him as a rich man's Bojan Bogdanović

When i started watching Risacher, i thought i would see another Klay or Reggie, but really what i saw was a better version of Bojan, the style and skill sets really pops out, especially the Detroit version of Bojan.

Bojan is extremely strong and is good at posting up and is extremely stupid and is an elite shooter and a bad defender.

Uhh, so, none of that applies to Risacher.
