Demarcus Cousins is a better offensive talent(and a better rebounder) then Davis is while also having an elite NBA body in terms of the center position to go along with his skill-set - and got pretty much free reign to have an offense run through him as you want him to being asked to run before he can walk - atleast for a good part of the season - and he only managed to average 14 points and 8 rebounds his rookie year.

unlike davis, monroe WAS the primary option in college and had the offense run through him.

why do you think that not making davis the number option from day one equates to ignoring his offensive potential?

Like I've stated numerous times, it depends on who gets him. On any other team than the Bobcats, they don't have to try to get as many pts. out of him. But the Bobcats have practically nonexistent inside scoring as well as being an abysmal offensive (and defensive) team overall. Again, I've qualified my statement by saying if the other young Bobcats can step up their offense, Davis won't have to try to score as much. But giving that this is the Bobcats, and they're currently a terrible team and would only be slightly less terrible next year (without Davis), they would do well to run the offense through him...even as a rookie. Not only because he can score, but also because of his passing abilities.

how is he going to be a go to player? he wasnt even a go to player for kentucky, but he's gonna be a go to player the first yr as a pro?
what are they going to do, post him up even though he doesnt have a good post up game? face him up even though his jumper is spotty at best?
i get that the bobcats lack inside scoring but how is davis gonna help matters as a go to player?
how is he going to be a go to, inside player as a rookie when all he's good at now on the interior offensively is finishing? right now, he is a finisher. a guy who finishes plays that OTHERS make for him. until he gets his skill level to the point where his jumper is dependable enough to maximize his face up game and he gains enough strength to hold his position in the post, either mid or high, he's just gonna have to fit in, pick his spots and find out where he's comfortable on the floor offensively.
