I also like how I needed glasses, yet the counterpoint was some broad defensive statistic that doesn't take into account about quality of team. Simply a ridiculous and terrible argument

You act like the other teams were full of walk ons.

The excuse game doesn't really provide any strong information to argument. Not sure why you're going to live and die by it.

never argue with "advanced stats guy" they'll make the numbers say whatever they want them to.

Greg Oden's Ohio State were 2nd in the nation in recruit ranking.
Had 5 star recruits in Conley, Daequan Cook, 4 star recruits in David Lighty and Othello Hunter.
along with McDonalds All American in Ivan Harris and one of the top college PG's in Jamar Butler.

Teams will be stacked in the NCAA, always happens. Excusing a players impact on the floor because he plays with good players is just a discredit. The discredit game is lame IMO. Doesn't provide insight and just a mess of discrediting everything in site. It's a blind game.

Gotcha. So a counterpoint is now an "excuse". Your points are that the team has better DRTG than the previous teams, and that the defense is better when KAT is on the floor; therefore, by some backwards associative property, KAT is the better defensive prospect. If I keep arguing with someone who talks out their ass, then I'm just as bad as they are. I'm going to save you the trouble and say that you win.

I'm glad you enjoyed the game today and I'm glad you're excited about KAT's potential.

Dont think ohio state had a willey cauley stein, or two 6'6 guards. we're talking about defense right?

Usually advanced stats guys can put together a semi-cogent argument. I haven't seen one thing that makes a bit of sense.

I'm predicting Okafor will not go #1, and it's gonna be because of peer pressure.

The internet is highly critical of Okafor's lack of defense.
After word gets around, the media will follow suit.
After word gets around, NBA circles will follow suit.
Then the pressure will be on NBA GMs to draft this man who's been highly criticized because he can't do what NBA teams ask from their starting bigs the most.

It is disappointing you failed to explain on how much talent on defense Ohio State's team. If you're going to counterpoint, don't run away from it. All these guys played on good rosters(from Ohio State to 11-12 Kentucky and current Kentucky), Noel's was the worst of the team obviously, not even you need to research that. It doesn't take away what they did defensively did. Don't get upset at people who provide information to the table and discredit them because you saw a game "live", most of the time people watch games live they're there for a social gathering with friends and don't even have full attention most of the time. It's not always the best assessment. I live in NYC so I can't attend any Kentucky games, but I was able to attend a USA-Kentucky game where I saw Karl Anthony Towns match up with Anthony Davis and he looked pretty impressive live, which has nothing to do with what Towns is doing now in the NCAA. The point is, don't get mad if theres new information thrown at you; be open whether you disagree or not. Make the argument but be ready to give me information that I want presented if you're going to flirt with the notion that Towns gets by because he plays on a team full of stacked players. It's a weak way of thinking in my opinion, the lack of strength in the logic makes it hard for yourself to even continue from here, so I understand your departure. It's never healthy to get yourself worked up over these things and let your emotions control your words. I Belie

They didn't have WCS, but Othello Hunter was a pretty capable defender, don't you think?

This argument is going to be exactly like Wiggins-Parker last year. Higher ceiling-lower floor vs Lower Ceiling-Higher Floor.

I like Towns slightly. Towns ability to be a shot blocker and his ability to stretch the floor farther is why I have him higher as a prospect although if you have a good player and want a sure big man post scorer then Okafor is your guy.

On a premium board I follow for UK Basketball (because, you know, I follow UK religiously, not just a casual fan, and haven't missed a game since 2006 and never went to a game as a social gathering) they are saying that you are correct. NC St and UK seem to be the leaders and to watch out for Ingram to potentially commit to us in the relatively near future. I do think Cal tells players to hold off on committing somewhere in the event more spots open up due to declaration for the draft.

Where have you heard UK so strong with Ingram? First I've heard. Before I've heard that Ingram is a plan B or C for UK. All we've heard is he probably stays in Carolina and attend one of the schools there.

EDIT: Oops missd where you said on your premium board. We haven't heard anything for a month or so now so UK could have easily made a strong impression Ingram. I would have figured he'd be down on the plans behind Brown for the SF spot and Diallo/Zimmerman/Maker for one of the big spots.

Yea, they don't feel good about Brown going to UK. Who knows? I feel like CBB recruiting is way more of a crapshoot than CFB recruiting.

We heard brown is all Adidas on our boards. Malik Newman is the combo guard target and Ingram gets the sf spot since the afam scandal took unc out. He's not a Duke guy.

It is not the same debate because Okafor have both a higher floor and a higher ceiling.

Advanced stats in college are much more sketchy than in the NBA. Tiny sample sizes, zone defenses, talent discrepancies...fairly worthless.

I never got how Towns is considered to have the higher ceiling. Offensively he will never be in the league of Okafor if he pans out (he'll be one of the top 5 offensive C's) and defensively Okafor has the build to be a better Marc Gasol (not that he will be but he has the body and athleticism for it).

Towns has less potential athletically to me because he's not fast enough to be a 100% great finesse big and not strong enough to be a 100% strength big. He's a jack of all trades and his ceiling is super high but I just see more potential in Jahlil.

You guys stay typing essays for nothing. I'm glad Phil Jackson isn't paying attention to OK4 the way he is for D'Angelo & Towns and I think it's because of OK4's defense and conditioning which is skittish. Ok4 is the better pick because he's worth about 2 first round draft picks or expendable free agents that are assets. Towns is a better potential.
