damn. feels like i'll legit be waiting until college to see this kid against anybody with size. Only other time was during the HSAA circuit at one of those New York pier games.

Hoop Summit maybe but it all depends on the level of talent on the international scale.

I've seen him live a few times. Really isn't fun to watch IMO. Uses sheer strength to overpower at and around the rim and doesn't really need to display the J or ball skills often.

Outside of a marquee matchup here and there in college, it'll be really is hard to evaluate Zion's game as far as translation to the pros.

live against like size? or live at the mixtape games?

I saw him against Quickley and against LaMelo....so no size. Would have loved to see him against Bagley.

yeah I saw some of that on the tube. Still too soon to say how I feel about the kid other than he's an athletic beast. Guess i'll just have to wait before I really chime in.

Game against Quickley was right after his knee injury, wasn't it? Saw the game against BBB, but that little to do with fundamentally sound basketball.

Zion has a long way to go with his handles and jumpshot and his defensive intensity comes and goes, but I do think he shows flashes of vision. It's just that the AAU circuit is a joke, there's not really an incentive to learn the fundamentals for players like Zion.

Some examples of Zion's willingness to share the ball and vision:

It's nothing spectacular, but he makes the right plays if he's locked in.

I've been seeing some pics and vids from the USA camp and he definitely does look a little meatier than before. You would think 250 should be the max for him.

Is that weight correct? I mean that's almost Andre Drummond weight.

That is the reported weight from the camp. Also to note, many reports of his conditioning being really bad.

I haven't seen one report of his conditioning this weekend. I just heard young charles barkley before weight became a issue

I don't know, maybe I'm jut nitpicking here, but Zion doesn't look as crazy athletic as he used to.

Last season:

Last Night:

The thing is he's still most likely the best pure athlete in high school basketball  but in the first video...I mean, I don't think I've ever seen a human being with that combination of strictly athleticism and power (not accounting for height). To me, he looks like he's lot a little bit of leap and explosiveness (and I'm not going just off this game, but recent videos after his injury, too) and I'm wondering if it's the weight gain or post effect of he injury or both? What do you guys think? For a prospect like Zion whose potential is mostly reliant on his insane athleticism, even the slightest drop makes a difference obviously.

Though I will say I'm not as high on him as a lot of people, because him being a 6'6.5 power forward at the next level without a jump shot scares me. I think he'll be an above average passer and ball handler for the position (he already shows signs of it) but yeah, his size and lack of a jumper will hurt him. Also, damn. 275 pounds at his height? :o

You're nitpicking.

He looks incredible to me. That combination of body control, size, and explosion is just absurd.

Charles Barkley was pretty good you know? And he could be like a tank version of carmelo anthony, he didn't shoot very good for a few years

There are a lot of "casualties" going from highschool to college to the pros and i think he is going to be one of them. Too short to be an effective NBA big.

Is draymond green too short? Carmelo often is a 4. Paul Millsap, Aaron Gordon.

Zion reminds me of an even more athletic Larry Johnson.

Doesn't have a great wingspan from the looks of it though.

Yes. That's why he can be great. If he even develops a occasional 3 pt shot he'll be a long time Allstar. Aaron Gordon was rawer in high school, draymond Millsap. He's rated right around Melo, but much more athletic. Remember same point of time Melo wasn't a very good 3pt shooter.
