Re: Caleb Wilson
I feel like you just repeated the exact same thing you just said lol.. I have Wilson high on my board. However, people who are just 100% convinced that every year every prospect is going to succeed and want to act like this years top 5 prospects are different and all 5 are bound to succeed because x,y,z and don't even consider the roads that lead to prospect failure are never going to improve at scouting.

Marvin Martian wrote:Bagley had a negative AST/TO ratio, bad stocks, and very bad FT%. What prospect has ever came out of college with those kind of numbers and ended up becoming a good player, let alone a star?
Blake Griffin's college career was pretty close to this
.589 FT%
0.7 AST:TO ratio
2.4 Block percentage
1.4 Steals per 40 minutes
Bagley in just his freshman season had him equaled or beat in all of these (except Steals per 40 minutes, which was close).

KG meets Giannis or Kawhi.

Re: Caleb Wilson
I’m solid on AJ and DP as 1 and 2. Third pick gets more interesting. You’ve got the riskier upside play in Wilson, the questionable translation in Boozer, and, to me, Wagler as a creator with some size. Don’t think I’d take any of the smaller guards yet.

If that was his projection he'd be going #1.

To be fair, they were talking about ultimate ceiling and not projection. Nobody projects to be a first-ballot HoF and perennial MVP candidate.

KG crossed with Giannis/Kawhi is likely the GOAT, it seems like a pretty ridiculous comp for a guy going 4th or 5th, even with the caveat that it's their ceiling.

It was a pretty abstract hypothetical, to be fair. I specifically stated that probability was to be ignored. In a world where rare cases of skill, or more specifically, shooting development, exist like Hakeem, Karl Malone, and Kawhi, you can't 100% rule out the possibility of Caleb Wilson becoming that sort of talent. Key word: possibility, not probability.
Imagine if Caleb developed shooting, ball handling, and adequate playmaking like Kawhi? The probability of that happening is .000001%, but it is a possibility. Run a million multiverse simulations, and one might hit, LOL.

It is a standalone tweet, didn't realize that was presenting it as fact lol.
More realistic statement must be "he is KG meets Giannis or Kawhi".

It is completely ridiculous. The most obvious comp for an undersized big, with elite athleticism, and burgeoning passing/creating skills is... Bam Adebayo.
Multiple time AS and All Defensive player averaging 20/10/4 and ~2.5 STOCKS per 36 on a TS of 58-60.

You guys don’t seem to understand the context of ultimate ceiling.
I remember being ridiculed for saying Curry’s ceiling was efficient Gilbert Arenas with a brain.

If you can't see the difference between comparing a player to Gilbert Arenas, a guy who isn't even a top 200 player ever, to 3 top 25 guys than that probably is an issue for this conversation.

Efficient Gilbert Arenas with a brain is a first ballot hall of famer and essentially what Curry became.
He asked for an ultimate ceiling, I don’t see the issue.

Riddle me this… what pick did KG go?
Curry?
Giannis?
Kawhi?
How about Jordan?
Kobe Bryant?
How about Wade?
Jokic?
Jason Kidd and Steve Nash?

Also to be fair, this is exactly the stuff that people said had to happen for Kawhi, Giannis, even Paul George, etc., to become the superstars they did.
Kawhi was mainly mocked in the middle to late lottery and most people agreed he was the next Gerald Wallace or if he hit his ceiling, Shawn Marion. He couldn’t shoot very well, had a busted handle and limited playmaking ability.
People weren’t even convinced Giannis would stick in the league and Paul George was looked at as at best a 18/6/3 kind of guy with great defense by many.

All true.
