1) DeAndre Ayton - safe w/defensive upside
2) Luka Doncic - give him the keys, he'll be a stud
3) Michael Porter - so much misinformation about his back, faux concern. Belongs up there with Ayton and Doncic
4) JJ Jr - enormous upside. Love the guy. Ultimately might be the best in the class
5) Mo Bamba - he's like bizarro Ayton, but less likely to realize his upside offensively than Ayton defensively
6) Trae Young - scoring PGs are the business now
7) Marvin Bagley - young Zach Randolph, but how often are scoring PFs game changers these days?
8) Collin Sexton - love the Bledsoe comp. What if Bledsoe stayed healthy?
9) Wendell Carter - limited upside but a very safe pick
10) Mikal Bridges - safe pick, I dont see the upside but I see a very long career for him. Khris Middleton upside, maybe?

Interesting...I see more Bosh than ZBo. My issue with him is his defense & I'm not sure he's going to really be the scorer he was in college at the next level.

That's actually why I have him as ZBo, because I dont believe in the defense. Also has pretty limited wingspan/defensive range. But what really sells me on the ZBo comparison is the lack of blocks and the lack of passing vision he has. Bosh was always a solid defender and made the smart plays a lot, I dont see that with Bagley. Granted, he's young, but I didnt even see flashes of it like I'd expect to from a top 5 pick - though I'd never draft him there.

The other thing I hate about him that I also disliked about ZBo - he's a touch screener. I got tipped off by draftnet pre-tourney that he was kinda weak there, and when I saw it... yuck. That's a huge part of today's NBA. Have to lean in, put some weight into it. Guards on Duke were better screen setters. I dont see 20-10 in his future in the NBA at any point, and I definitely dont see defensive impact. Of the projected top 7, he and Trae Young are my biggest bust potentials (though I believe that Trae will at minimum be a 6th man scorer in the Dana Barros mold)

Lol show me a talented freshman big man who was leaning into screens and I'll show you a player who was fouling out of every other game. If anything, the ability to slip a screen is becoming more important in today's NBA: if you try too hard to clobber a guy who's going to be switching a screen regardless, it just allows him to get tangled up with you and prevent you from moving somewhere to take advantage of the mismatch.

My reference point is Brandan Wright - he looks exactly like Brandan Wright did when he "set screens". And its in quotes because there was never any contact, because he tried to slip before the contact happened. That's either being scared of contact or expecting the ball every time you roll, which IMO is extremely self-serving. The point of the screen is to free the handler up WAY more than it is to get the roller in position.

Its weird that Ayton, Bamba, and JJ Jr had no problem setting screens though. All freshman. JJ Jr had foul trouble pretty bad though so there may be some truth to it.. but when I saw him, he was earning his fouls - all on the defensive end.

It's weird that Mo Bamba had no problems setting screens?! I don't think we are at the same level of basketball IQ to continue this conversation if that's seriously what you thought from watching Mo Bamba play. The attention Bagley drew was such that he didn't need to make contact every single time to free up his teammate (Duke hardly ran any pick-and-roll, so I don't know where this talk about the handler is coming from); it's like how a wide receiver in football doesn't need to block on a running play if he can take defenders entirely out of the play by acting like he's going out for a pass.

Duke's offense was 3rd in the country in efficiency and got 10 points per 100 possessions worse when Bagley wasn't in the game, so either it's not nearly as "self-serving" as you think or you are massively understating his offensive potential since if you had any sort of long-term memory you could have made the same nitpick about any other offensively talented big such as Towns, Embiid, Cousins, etc. when they were freshmen (which again is not too hard to learn how to do in the NBA where players are given tons more leeway on the kinds of screens they can set without getting called for an offensive foul). Also should go without saying that bringing up Brandan Wright when attempting to describe a player who gets box score numbers but doesn't contribute to a team's offensive efficiency accomplishes the opposite of what you think it does.

I like the passion, but let's stop with the attacks on other poster's IQs. Thanks. - Ruz

Lol dude, bye. You just said he cant be bad at screens because that he didnt need to make contact, and then say we arent on the same level of basketball IQ? He's not even in good position for them!

Its just so weird that Wendell Carter set fine screens for the team. It cant be a legit criticism.. except its baked into almost every analysis! Man, I wish Jonathan Givony was on your level. Maybe he could work for you?
